This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to PTME and delivering New Model Powertrain Programs. We are seeking a passionate, purposeful and customer centric leader to join our team as a Casting and Forging Manufacturing Process Engineer.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...
- Lead the development of in-house forging rough part design, and part fill, die pressure, and failure mode simulation, including the complete understanding of all key process variables for forging crankshafts
- Lead development of advanced processes for forging rough part design, including optimization of PD designed final machined parts for manufacturability in forging and machining plants
- Utilize the CR / IR process and drive implementation through the BOP teams, including updating the MDS, for quality and investment efficiency opportunities
- Collaborate with Machining and PD TE's on improvement of crankshaft near net shape design, material distribution, and balance optimization to maximize investment efficiency and manufacturing flexibility
- Work with PD to understand what new manufacturing technologies are required to meet product requirements
- Collaboratively work with internal/external development partners. Leverage technology development efforts with internal (NDE, AMDO) and external (suppliers, research labs) partners.
- Keep current with competitive benchmarking and global forging technologies
- Mentor crankshaft manufacturing and design engineers in part design, analysis, and optimization (both casting and forging)
You'll have...
- Bachelors in Mechanical/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent field of studies, preferably M.S.E. in Mechanical/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
- Min of 5 years exp in Manufacturing preferably in casting and forging.
- Demonstrated experience in detailed statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques, including development of new tools to aid in analysis and resolution of part and process deficiencies and realization of opportunities
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing/process engineering and program management for product and facilities programs
- Strong working knowledge of crankshaft forging processes, rough part design, and forging die design, including diagnosis and linking of process driven issues through analysis of rough part and machining line concerns
- Knowledgeable of worldwide research and technology development activities for crankshaft forging
- Knowledge of PolyWorks software is a plus

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
