About InDebted: InDebted provides future-thinking organisations with products and solutions to support overdue consumers through debt. Backed by technology with a human touch, we use machine learning and AI to personalise the collections journey and champion positive customer experiences — all so we can change the world of consumer debt for good.

Founded in Australia, today we're a team of over 300 people living and working around the world. We're rapidly expanding throughout North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. We’re a $50m revenue (and growing) organisation, having recently completed our Series C funding round, backed by leading investors such as Airtree. Now is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to make the experience of debt resolution smoother, and more human.

We are seeking a seasoned and commercially driven Managing Director to take full ownership of InDebted’s Australian business. This role holds full P&L accountability for Australia, and is responsible for defining and executing the go-to-market strategy for revenue growth across both InDebted’s intelligent third-party collections service (Collect) and first-party collections software (Receeve) in the Australian market.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in the collections industry, with an established network across Australia’s financial services sector. You’ll be a strategic leader and operator, responsible for driving revenue growth, operational performance, and client satisfaction across key verticals including banking, telco, utilities, BNPL, and more.

Commercial Leadership

  • Define and execute the GTM strategy for selling both InDebted’s intelligent third-party collections service (Collect) and first-party collections software (Receeve) in Australia, delivering on organic revenue growth targets.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy including pipeline development, converting commercial opportunities across multiple verticals, and, pricing and negotiations to win new clients and deepen existing relationships.
  • Leverage existing industry networks to unlock new business opportunities.
  • Translate commercial objectives into financial forecasts, budgets, commission structures and investment cases; monitor performance and adjust course as needed

Functional Leadership

  • Full accountability to lead the Australian Sales, Client Solutions, Customer Operations, Compliance, and Legal functions.
  • Work in close partnership with global counterparts across Finance, IT, and People Ops to manage local functional delivery.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team with strong accountability and commercial focus.

P&L Functional Accountability

  • Full P&L responsibility of the Australian business, including revenue, gross margin, and OPEX performance.

Customer Experience & Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end digital and voice customer operations, including training, quality assurance and knowledge management to deliver outstanding collections performance and leading Net Promoter Scores
  • Drive continuous improvement through process redesign, automation and data-driven insights—leveraging AI tools where they deliver the greatest impact
  • Lead integration and platform consolidation for our recently acquired business, ensuring seamless change management and no customer disruption

Compliance & Regulatory Engagement

  • Act as Responsible Manager under Australian credit and privacy laws, maintaining proactive relationships with ASIC, ACCC, AFCA and OAIC
  • Ensure real-time compliance monitoring, audit readiness and robust risk management
  • Represent InDebted in industry forums and regulatory consultations, shaping best practices for ethical collections

Client & Partner Management

  • Serve as executive sponsor for strategic accounts, and driving upsell and cross-sell initiatives
  • Drive high client satisfaction and retention through strategic account management and excellence in service delivery
  • Collaborate on ANZ partnerships and acquisitions, providing market insight and diligence support
  • Partner with global product, engineering, marketing and data teams to localise offerings and deliver compelling client propositions

AI & Innovation

  • Embed AI-first principles across teams: champion habitual use of generative and predictive tools to increase throughput without proportional headcount growth
  • Define clear AI adoption metrics for all functions, and model hands-on usage to accelerate organisational learning

Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years in P&L or general-management roles within fintech, debt collections, BPO or SaaS scale-ups
  • Extensive experience in the Australian collections industry, including third-party collections and/or collections technology and strong credibility with regulators
  • Strong existing relationships across Australian financial services, with a track record of influencing and selling to large institutions.
  • Proven track record of scaling multi-million dollar revenue businesses and closing large enterprise deals
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI, automation or advanced analytics into commercial and operational processes
  • Expert knowledge of ASIC/ACCC Debt Collection Guideline, AFCA, Privacy Act and related legislation
  • Demonstrated success leading complex integrations and cross-functional teams

Leadership Attributes

  • Strategic, data-driven thinker who converts insight into action
  • Inclusive leader who inspires, coaches and holds teams accountable to clear performance and AI adoption goals
  • Excellent communicator able to influence C-suite stakeholders, industry bodies and regulators
  • High intellectual curiosity and a builder’s mindset eager to champion innovation
