Role Objective

The Lead Attorney serves as a senior legal authority and strategic resource across the firm's full range of immigration practice areas - humanitarian and business-based alike. This is a hybrid leadership and practice role: you will supervise attorneys, provide legal strategy guidance on complex cases, and build strong, trusted relationships with clients. The right person is an experienced immigration attorney who leads by example, mentors well, and is comfortable being both a strategic advisor to the team and a steady presence for clients navigating high-stakes cases. This role is based in-person in Phoenix, AZ.

Attorney Supervision & Legal Strategy

  • Supervise attorneys across multiple immigration practice areas, including humanitarian (asylum, VAWA, U/T visas, removal defense) and business-based (employment, consular) matters.
  • Provide legal strategy guidance to attorneys on complex or high-stakes cases, helping shape argument structure, evidentiary approach, and case posture.
  • Review case strategy and intervene when correction or additional guidance is needed.
  • Serve as a senior resource attorneys can escalate to for legal questions across case types.
  • Step in to directly handle cases as needed - including coverage during attorney absences, overflow, or particularly complex matters requiring hands-on senior involvement.

Client Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients throughout their case.
  • Conduct client conversations that require senior legal authority - particularly with concerned or dissatisfied clients - providing clear, disciplined explanations of strategy and risk.

  • Make principled, well-reasoned decisions on case posture in collaboration with firm leadership.

Legal Quality & Pattern Analysis

  • Help identify recurring RFE trends or drafting/evidentiary weaknesses across case types.
  • Contribute to strategy updates and practice improvements based on patterns observed across the caseload.
  • Participate in structured legal review sessions with attorneys and leadership.

Requirements

  • Active U.S. law license in good standing.
  • Significant immigration law experience across humanitarian case types (Removal Defense, Asylum, VAWA, U/T Visa) and business-based matters (Employment-based, Consular, Family-based).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring attorneys in a law firm environment.
  • Strong client-facing skills and a track record of building lasting client trust.
  • Comfortable operating in a high-volume legal setting.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Phoenix, AZ area - this is an in-person role.
