Description – Manager, Workforce Development

 

The Role

The Manager, Workforce Development leads strategies that build current and future talent pipelines for Georgia Power, with a primary focus on craft, labor, and technical roles. This position manages workforce programs, strengthens sourcing partnerships, and oversees technical college training efforts, including recruitment, participant engagement, and program coordination.

The manager also partners with internal business functions, education and workforce organizations, labor partners, and government agencies to expand workforce capacity and support long-term labor pool development.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Lead workforce development strategies that create pathways into Georgia Power and build future talent pipelines across key business functions
  • Will be responsible for managing a Workforce Development team
  • Partner with business units, Power Delivery workforce strategy, Talent Acquisition, training teams, and external partners to align programs with company needs
  • Manage workforce programs including ELAC, the Lineworker Entry Program, internships, and work-based learning opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with education providers, workforce organizations, community partners, labor partners, and government agencies
  • Coordinate with technical colleges, internal training groups, and industry partners to align curriculum, credentials, and training with business requirements
  • Will be responsible for creating new workforce development programs and implementing these new programs to support business needs for Georgia Power.
  • Develop and execute program plans, measure impact, communicate progress, and provide data-driven recommendations on current and future workforce needs
  • Promote career awareness in communities and help candidates connect to the credentials, skills, programs, and partners needed for employment

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Georgia Power business operations, including Power Delivery, Generation, and other key functions
  • Applies strategic and innovative thinking to advance business objectives and workforce outcomes
  • Leads teams by creating structure, developing talent, building alignment, and driving results through influence
  • Builds effective relationships with employers, education providers, workforce organizations, labor partners, and government agencies
  • Manages multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Influences partners and advances initiatives without relying on direct authority
  • Communicates clearly, organizes work effectively, and follows through on commitments
  • Works independently while staying aligned with team goals and cross-functional priorities

 

Education, Certifications/Licenses

Minimum Qualifications

Required: Degree in business, education, engineering, training or related field 

Related Work Experience

Required: 5 years of experience in management, human resources, consulting or program implementations.   Demonstrated ability to interact with Senior Management and peers on matters requiring internal or cross-company coordination

Preferred: 5+ years of specific experience working directly within the utility industry and workforce development systems               

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:  

Office environment, regular travel within the U.S.
