Job Context

The Manager – Tendering is responsible for managing the end-to-end tendering process to convert business opportunities into profitable orders. The role collaborates with sales, engineering, supply chain, finance, and operations teams to develop competitive, compliant, and commercially viable bids. In a competitive power distribution and electrical equipment market, the position drives bid success by evaluating opportunities, managing commercial risks, ensuring contractual compliance, and improving tender win rates. The role directly contributes to revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion through successful participation in RMU, switchgear, utility, EPC, and industrial tenders.

Key Accountabilities;

Tender Management

  • Review RFQs, tenders, customer specifications, and bidding documents.
  • Lead end-to-end tendering activities for RMUs, MV Switchgear, Secondary Distribution Solutions, and related products.
  • Ensure timely submission of technical and commercial bids.
  • Monitor tender deadlines and maintain bid submission schedules.

Technical Proposal Development

  • Analyze customer requirements, SLDs, technical specifications, and BOQs.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Production, and SCM teams for technical inputs.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical offers ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Identify deviations, exceptions, and compliance statements.
  • Making MTP for 5 years

Commercial Proposal Preparation

  • Prepare cost estimates and pricing strategies aligned with profitability targets.
  • Evaluate project risks and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, and Operations for costing inputs.
  • Negotiate and finalize commercial aspects during bid clarification stages.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Act as a central interface among Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customers.
  • Support Sales teams during customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions.
  • Work closely with regional sales teams for opportunity assessment and bid strategy.

Contract Review & Risk Assessment

  • Review contractual terms and conditions.
  • Identify commercial and contractual risks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in bid review and approval processes.
  • Preparation of monthly report for the business
  • Internal audit clearance for sales and marketing

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Track industry trends, competitor offerings, and pricing practices.
  • Support business development initiatives by identifying market opportunities.
  • Maintain a repository of historical bids, pricing references, and tender outcomes.

Process Improvement

  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement in tendering processes.
  • Develop bid templates, technical libraries, and costing tools.
  • Improve tender win rates through effective bid management practices.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Experience:

8-12 years of experience in Tendering, Proposals, Estimation, or Bid Management within:

  • RMU Manufacturing
  • Medium Voltage Switchgear
  • Power Distribution Equipment
  • Electrical EPC
  • Utility Projects
  • Experience in handling domestic tenders. 

Technical Competencies

Strong knowledge of:

  • Ring Main Units (RMU)
  • Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
  • Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
  • MV Distribution Systems
  • Protection & Control Systems
  • Utility and Industrial Electrical Networks

Understanding of:

  • IEC Standards
  • IS Standards
  • Utility Specifications
  • BOQ Analysis
  • Cost Estimation
  • Project Commercials

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
1) Administration: Produce, update, and provide best practice support on complex Microsoft documents, databases, and other departmental systems, advising colleagues as needed and using expertise to help improve processes.
2) Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
3) Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
4) Information and Business Advice: Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
5) Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
6) Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
7) Product/Service Information: Provide advanced product/service information and respond to basic customer questions about the product/service.
8) Training development and delivery: Run small training programs (or pieces of large training programs) for specific technical areas and help to prepare training content. Involves following established procedures and working under the supervision of senior colleagues.
9) Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
General Experience Requirement: Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months)
Managerial Experience Requirement: Very limited (0 to 3 months)

Skills Required
