SUMMARY
The Manager, Sustainable Supply Chain will develop enterprise strategies and manage programs to strengthen Cardinal Health’s supply chain, specifically as it relates to human rights, ethics, and the environment. This individual will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and managing approaches that reduce risk, ensure responsible sourcing practices, uphold human rights, and drive sustainable performance across our extensive supplier network.
This role will lead engagement with top suppliers as well as internal sourcing teams across the enterprise on behalf of Cardinal Health’s Sustainable Business team. This Manager will lead our responsible sourcing program, function as the subject matter expert on human rights and ethical supplier engagement strategies, help Cardinal Health to meet our science-based climate target, drive emissions reduction across the pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chain, and support compliance with growing legislation worldwide.
This position requires a detail-oriented leader who can develop relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, navigate competing priorities, and manage through influence across organizations, levels, and functions. This position will have one direct report and can work remotely anywhere in the United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sustainable Supply Chain Strategy & Execution
Develop responsible sourcing strategies, align with internal stakeholders to gain strategic alignment between responsible sourcing and business objectives, and implement and enforce related policies and procedures
Function as the subject matter expert to inform Cardinal Health’s approach to human rights and ethical supplier engagement and due diligence
Manage sustainability supply chain mapping to increase transparency and traceability across Cardinal Health’s supplier base.
Refine and execute a segmented supplier engagement roadmap that differentiates strategies based on risk and maturity, encourages suppliers to set science-aligned targets, and drives Scope 3 emissions reduction
Track, analyze, validate, and report on supply chain sustainability KPIs, using data to demonstrate business value
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership
Partner with sourcing, legal, and other internal teams to integrate sustainable business criteria into supplier selection, onboarding, and performance review processes
Build and maintain relationships with strategic suppliers
Develop and deploy sourcing and supplier education, tools, and resources to support their sustainability goal setting and progress
Oversee high risk supplier corrective action plans (CAPs)
Support Director in hosting sourcing and supplier forums to facilitate sustainable business education and idea sharing
Manage supplier awards and incentives programs
Represent Cardinal Health in supplier sustainability forums, industry coalitions, and external partnerships relevant to sustainable healthcare supply chains
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with evolving global sustainable supply chain regulations, such as modern slavery acts, supply chain transparency laws, and other relevant human rights and environmental due diligence requirements
Collaborate with legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs teams to interpret new sustainability regulations and integrate them into Cardinal Health operations or policies
Support the ongoing development and refinement of Cardinal Health's Vendor Code of Conduct and responsible sourcing policies
Report on supplier sustainability performance through existing enterprise supplier scorecards, and develop, deploy, and manage new supplier sustainability scorecards where needed
Contribute to the annual Sustainable Business Report, other voluntary and mandatory reporting with supply chain highlights, case studies, and progress metrics
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Supply Chain, Business or related field preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
8+ years of experience in sustainability, sourcing, supply chain, risk management preferred.
Familiarity with global supply chain operations, and sustainability reporting frameworks and standards.
Strong knowledge of responsible sourcing, ethical trade, sustainable business frameworks, supplier engagement platform.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal working relationships across business functions, including demonstrated experience influencing without formal authority to accomplish company-wide goals.
Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
Anticipated salary range: $105,500 -$150,100
