About the Role
The Manager Supply Planning is responsible for developing constrained production plans, capacity analysis, and deployment requirements to support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This role balances key business objectives, including service levels, distressed inventory rates, finished goods inventory levels, and the manufacturing and distribution costs associated with supplying products.
As a key representative of the Supply Chain organization, the Manager Supply Planning partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement across assigned product categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Supply Chain contact for assigned product categories, partnering with Marketing Brand Managers and Directors, Plant Managers, Operations Directors and Vice Presidents, and Category Management Directors and Vice Presidents.
- Develop and maintain a 13-week master production plan for assigned categories across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Manage highly complex and visible product categories.
- Collaborate across multiple categories to mentor, coach, train, and develop other planners.
- Support and lead the development of tools and processes that drive organizational growth, including innovation initiatives, LEAN programs, and other cross-functional improvement activities.
- Plan and control production while establishing distribution inventory goals for finished goods.
- Maintain Manugistics system settings for assigned categories.
- Validate long-term production schedules covering months 3 through 18 and maintain the JDA model to support plant planning requirements and improve scheduling outputs.
- Assist with the Supply Chain budgeting process and provide long-term planning support through PSI (Production, Sales, and Inventory) planning.
- Represent Supply Chain during the S&OP process.
- Lead weekly Operations meetings and communicate supply chain issues along with recommendations for resolution.
- Partner with Plant Schedulers to convert rough-cut production plans into finite production schedules on a weekly basis.
- Review potential shortages daily and take action to mitigate risks as needed. Communicate shortage risks and distressed inventory concerns to customer-facing teams and other appropriate departments.
- Notify Procurement and Plant Planning of significant changes impacting high-risk items.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to support business initiatives and adjust plans as needed.
- Drive resolution of shelf-life issues related to packaging and raw materials in partnership with Procurement and the Distressed Sales Team through the S&OP process.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience planning and managing supply chain assets within a high-volume consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment required.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced planning technology and decision-support tools.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functional departments and management levels.
