The Chief of Staff to the Chief Growth Officer & Global Head of Consumer is a force-multiplier role designed to accelerate execution, sharpen strategy, and ensure coherence across Dow Jones's global consumer businesses.
This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, communications, and leadership. You will help translate big ideas into executable plans, connect teams that don't naturally connect, and ensure the CGO is operating at maximum leverage — internally and externally.
This is not an administrative role. It is a career-accelerating position for someone who wants exposure to senior leadership, complex media businesses, and real P&L-adjacent decision-making.
You Will:Be the Strategic Partner to the CGO
- Act as a thought partner on consumer growth strategy across subscriptions, engagement, video, events, and new businesses
- Pressure-test ideas, structure ambiguous problems, and develop clear points of view for decision-making
- Help frame multi-year strategic narratives — not just quarterly plans
Function as the Operating & Execution Backbone
- Drive follow-through on top priorities across the consumer organization
- Track progress against key initiatives; surface risks early and propose solutions
- Coordinate across product, editorial, marketing, data, finance, and commercial teams to ensure alignment and momentum
- Prepare materials for operating reviews, ELT updates, and board-level discussions
Be the Connective Tissue Across the Consumer Group
- Serve as a central node connecting leaders across WSJ, Barron's, MarketWatch, IBD, video, events, and new ventures
- Help eliminate silos by clarifying ownership, timelines, and success metrics
- Translate between different "languages" — editorial, product, marketing, finance, tech
Craft Communications, Narrative & Speech Prep
- Draft and refine speeches, talking points, memos, and presentations for internal and external audiences
- Help shape the CGO's voice across town halls, leadership meetings, conferences, and media appearances
- Ensure consistency of message across strategy, execution, and culture
Lead Special Projects & New Bets
- Lead or support high-impact strategic projects (e.g., new consumer products, partnerships, acquisitions, pilots)
- Conduct market analysis, competitive assessments, and business case development
- Work closely with strategy, corporate development, and finance as needed
- 5-7 years post-undergrad experience
- Experience in media, technology, consumer, or subscriptions is a plus but not required
- Exceptionally strong structured thinker — can turn chaos into clarity
- Excellent writer and communicator (this role writes a lot)
- High judgment, low ego, and comfortable operating with senior leaders
- Comfortable moving between strategy and execution — slides one minute, details the next
- Naturally curious, intellectually rigorous, and commercially minded
- Able to operate with discretion and trust
- Comprehensive Healthcare Plans
- Paid Time Off
- Retirement Plans
- Comprehensive Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Plans
- Education Benefits
- Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave
- Family Care Benefits
- Commuter Transit Program
- Subscription Discounts
- Employee Referral Program
