About the role

Our growing team is looking for a Manager – Strategic API Development!

What you’ll do here:

  • Evolve our current and future service towards an API product and not only backend services.
  • Collaborate and support the different POs of the Lab in the realization of their roadmap.
  • Prioritize and implement a collaborative culture within your team and the Lab based on methods such as internal open source, and other collaboration methods.
  • Develop productive and engaged teams, promoting the development of personal and technical skills, as well as collaboration.
  • Collaborate with other managers to ensure that all initiatives have the appropriate resources, balancing business needs with the experience and career aspirations of each employee.
  • Ensure that our impressive work meets company standards for software engineering, architecture and quality.
  • Continuously evolve development practices, tools and processes in order to increase the autonomy and effectiveness of teams, and to ensure that they can meet the objectives of our digital leadership.
  • Collaborate with the other technical managers of the Lab in order to align practices and ways of doing things.
  • Cultivate change and initiate innovation.
  • Understand the business needs and ensure that the technology can meet the viability of the products.
  • Define with the PO the roadmap of our API products based on the Lab’s business needs.
  • Master all facets of software development, understand how all of the components interact and can impact the performance and quality of the products delivered.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Software Engineering or any combination of training and equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in resource management.
  • Good knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • A solid experience in the delivery of products in Agile / Scrum mode in Software Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of backend technologies (Java, NodeJS, Kotlin), as well as different services and API architectures.
  • Solid understanding of what APIs are, their functions, for both public and private APIs.
  • Strong knowledge in API Gateway management, their uses and how they are used.
  • Strong knowledge in the different distributed application architecture patterns (event driven, event sourcing, MASA, etc.).
  • Bilingual (French and English): Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • Passion for creating software products.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
