Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

Snap Engineering teams build fun and technically sophisticated products that reach hundreds of millions of Snapchatters around the world, every day. We’re deeply committed to the well-being of everyone in our global community, which is why our values are at the root of everything we do. We move fast, with precision, and always execute with privacy at the forefront.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager for the Creators Client team in the Content organization at Snap!

Our mission is to make Snapchat the place where real people grow as creators. Spotlight has shown that Snapchatters will post and keep posting when the experience earns it, and this team owns that experience end to end on iOS and Android: the posting flow from tap-to-post through upload and distribution, the public profile where creators express their identity and manage their content, and the insights and notifications that tell creators what happened to a post and what to do next. We sit at the center of the creator journey, from a first Spotlight post to a growing, monetizable audience, and partner closely with cross-fundational teams to make posting something creators can bet on.

What you'll do:
  • Manage and mentor a team of iOS and Android engineers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment

  • Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver

  • Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders

  • Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor

  • Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members

  • Utilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality code

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Deep understanding of mobile application development on iOS and/or Android

  • Experience with leading a mobile engineering team

  • A track record on both sides of the platform and product split: you have built client foundations or frameworks that other teams build on, and/or you have shipped user-facing features and been accountable for the metrics they move

  • Experience shipping consumer features through A/B experimentation, including defining success metrics, interpreting results, and making launch decisions with Product and Data Science

  • Ability to run a critical user flow like a production service, with client-side instrumentation, regression detection, alerting, on-call, and incident response

  • Ability leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives that span many partner teams, including driving design reviews between client and backend engineers

  • Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.

  • Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience

  • 9+ years of post-Bachelor's software development experience; or a Master's degree in a technical field + 8+ years of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 5+ years of post-grad software development experience

  • 1+ years of experience managing a team or acting as a technical lead

  • Experience with mobile client developments on either iOS or Android

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with media pipelines on mobile, such as capture, transcoding, background upload, and retry and recovery logic

  • Experience with creator, social, or short-form video products, and with the metrics behind creator growth and retention

  • Experience leading large client architecture migrations or refactors, such as dependency injection, modularization, or adopting a cross-platform UI framework

  • Experience with client observability, on-call rotations, and incident response for a high-traffic consumer app

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
