Overview
Payments Network Division is seeking a Manager in Software Engineering ;
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of software engineers and technical project managers improving software processes and setting the group's strategic direction. The software group is responsible for the design, development, documentation, integration, and test of software products, systems and subsystems on time and within budget. Applicants must also have the ability to complete technical projects independently as well as mentor and/or coach other engineers.
Essential Skills• Lead and develop a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to support the successful execution of strategic initiatives.• Drive the delivery of critical software projects, ensuring outcomes align with timelines, scope, quality standards, and business objectives.• Guide the analysis, design, and development of scalable software solutions, enabling engineers to translate business requirements into high-quality technical deliverables.• Conduct code and design reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain engineering excellence, code quality, reliability, and adherence to best practices.• Champion the adoption of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), testing, security, and operational best practices to foster a culture of engineering excellence.• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to influence architectural decisions and contribute to technical strategy and design discussions.• Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools, supporting their adoption where they deliver measurable business and technical value.• Ensure implementation of comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end testing, to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing applications.• Foster a culture of innovation, curiosity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.• Manage, mentor, and coach engineers, supporting both their technical growth and long-term career development.• Collaborate closely with Product Management and peer engineering teams to deliver customer-centric solutions through iterative and agile development practices.• Help teams maintain focus on strategic priorities and delivery commitments while reinforcing Agile values, engineering discipline, and operational excellence.• Partner with engineering managers and senior leaders to drive organizational goals, improve engineering effectiveness, and advance department-wide initiatives.All About You• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.• 14+ years of experience in software design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications.• Proven people leadership experience with strong capabilities in stakeholder management, coaching, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration.• Strong understanding of Unit Testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and modern software quality practices.• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining containerized applications using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.• Hands-on experience with Protocol Buffers, gRPC, and distributed systems development.• 7+ years of experience serving as a technical lead, engineering lead, or people manager, mentoring and guiding engineering teams.• Strong hands-on expertise in modern Java or Go-based development, with deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, distributed systems, and scalable application architectures.• Demonstrated proficiency in applying contemporary architectural patterns, SOLID principles, system design concepts, and engineering best practices.• Experience leading engineering teams in Agile environments, leveraging iterative delivery approaches to enhance customer value and improve engineering productivity.• Excellent communication, influencing, and decision-making skills, with the ability to effectively partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
