Here at Optum, we are looking for an Experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Product Engineering team based in India. This role is ideal for a technology leader with solid foundation in software development, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving end-to-end software delivery, from requirement gathering to deployment, while ensuring alignment with business goals and technical excellence and an insatiable appetite for continuous improvement and innovation. Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership
- Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance applications
- Provide hands-on technical guidance across frontend Portals, APIs, and database layers
- Champion best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and CI/CD
- Own areas of responsibility and applications from security, architecture, production, CI/CD, production roadmaps and Product lifecycle management
- Project & Delivery Management
- Own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for multiple projects
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project scope and timelines
- Lead development efforts to ensure work and projects progress
- Track progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions
- Team & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers through coaching and performance management
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular 1:1s, career development planning, and technical upskilling initiatives
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act as a key liaison between engineering and business teams
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable plans
- Prepare and present technical documentation, project updates, and architecture reviews to leadership
- Ensure clear and proactive communication across all levels of the organization

Never stop learning
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate degree or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of current experience with languages .NET, C# as an engineer
- 5+ years of production experience with Azure cloud and React
- 3+ years of experience in managing a team of at least 8 members
- Experience working with teams that leveraged three or more of the following: continuous integration / continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public / private cloud, web applications, web services, application observability and/or messaging/ stream architecture
- Experience with version control systems like Git and repository management practices
- Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud platform (App Services, Azure Functions, DevOps, etc.)
- IT full-stack engineering experience
- Deep understanding of software engineering and processes: design patterns, algorithms, data structures, schemas and queries, system design, unit testing, code reviews, agile and dev-ops, as well as industry patterns for application architecture and integration
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and project management tools (Jira)
- Proven track record in application architecture and system design
- AI/ML for team productivity or Business effectiveness like Github Copilot, M365 Copilot, Versel AI etc.
- Proven ability to lead multiple tasks and projects
- Proven good communication - Able to communicate effectively with the team members and other stakeholders
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Development experience in Docker, Snowflake, Kubernetes, Data Streaming via Kafka/Event Hub
- Experience with technologies such as: HTML/Javascript, TestCafe, NodeJS, Git, SOA
- SRE principles (error budgets, alarming practices, etc)
- Healthcare domain background
