Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks a talented professional to join the Advanced Space Processing E&S team in Boulder, CO as a Software Engineering Functional Manager Level 1 managing a team of Algorithms/Analysis Engineers and/or Software Engineers.
Essential Functions:
- This is a dual role encompassing both functional management and technical performance within the Advanced Space Processing Portfolio (BOA or Advanced Programs) team.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance
- Will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline preferred from an accredited institution and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree; or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
- Must be experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle
- Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in collaborating with and leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must.
- High proficiency in technical problem solving
- Familiarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulations
- Familiarity with the Missile Defense System
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant technical or management specialty
- Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership
- Working knowledge of OPIR sensors, with respect to focal plane resolution, sensitivity, and line of sight considerations for the purpose of tracking
- Experience in tracking and prediction algorithms
- Unix/Linux operating system expertise (RHEL)
- Experience with C/C++ software language, development tools, and integrated development environments (IDEs)
- Agile development experience
