About the team and the role:

The Payments Platform team at eBay is dedicated to improving the financial interactions of our vast global community. As a Manager, Software Development 2 located in Bangalore, you will lead an engineering team focused on backend development. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers and business teams to deliver high-quality payment solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and serve the eBay community effectively. You will report to senior management and provide strategic insights to drive technical direction and implementation.

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead the design and development of scalable solutions for significant payment backend challenges, ensuring system adaptability and reliability.

  • Drive collaboration with product and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions that delight eBay's community.

  • Improve eBay's payment infrastructure to support millions of transactions seamlessly.

  • Implement and refine engineering practices to ensure outstanding quality and security standards across backend systems.

  • Mentor and develop backend engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting career growth within the team.

  • Cultivate a collaborative environment to innovate and push boundaries within the payments landscape.

What you will bring:

  • A demonstrated ability in leading teams focused on backend software development.

  • Proven expertise in scaling backend systems and solving complex payment-related challenges.

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including product management and business stakeholders.

  • Technical proficiency in relevant technologies including microservices architectures geared towards cloud environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and communication skills to interface with diverse teams.

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in software development, with hands-on experience in managing agile project environments.
