Role Overview
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia• The Saudi Arabia SME Lead is based in Riyadh and reports to the SME Cluster Lead.• This role requires a strong sales and consultative mindset, with the ability to understand client needs, position SME card and payment solutions, and help clients translate opportunities into practical commercial outcomes.• Drive SME sales growth by identifying client opportunities, developing propositions, and using strong cards and payments understanding to recommend solutions that support client revenue, profitability and customer needs.• Build and manage a strong pipeline while engaging clients through a hands-on, consultative approach, including on-site client interactions, needs assessment, opportunity shaping and solution positioning across Financial Institutions and non-financial institution partners.• Identify, originate and convert new business opportunities, develop SME ecosystem plays, and drive the commercialization of signed deals to deliver measurable revenue outcomes.• Contribute to achieving SME P&L objectives across key customers and broadly in Saudi Arabia while supporting broader regional expert sales priorities aligned to Saudi Arabia business goals.• Identify product, proposition and business innovation opportunities across SME payment segments.• Act as a client-facing SME cards and payments consultant, working with customers and internal partners to diagnose needs, shape recommendations, support solution design and enable execution across sales, product and market teams.• This is an individual contributor role with no direct people-management responsibility; success depends on strong client engagement, cross-functional collaboration and disciplined sales execution.
Qualifications Required• Strong knowledge of cards, commercial payments, issuing propositions and related solutions, with hands-on experience in sales and business development within the SME segment.• Progressive business experience with a strong track record in the payments industry and a solid understanding of commercial and consumer payments.• Strong strategic thinking and consulting capabilities, including the ability to assess client needs, translate market insights into actionable recommendations and influence decision-making at senior levels.• Experience in consulting, solution selling or advisory-led client management, with a strong track record of working directly with customers in on-site environments to shape opportunities, guide implementation and deliver business outcomes.• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to drive outcomes through stakeholders and partners who may not report directly into the role.• Proven ability to influence without authority, working through account teams, product specialists and partners to progress opportunities and deliver client outcomes.• High bias for action, with a disciplined and results-driven approach to achieving sales targets and commercial objectives.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and resolve them directly or through effective escalation.• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and presentation skills, with the executive presence required to engage senior stakeholders, facilitate strategic discussions and represent Mastercard credibly in client-facing environments.
