What we need
Symbotic is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Manager, SAP DevOps to lead our SAP technical operations and development initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in SAP Basis, ABAP development, and SAP BTP, with a strong focus on DevOps practices, cloud-native solutions, and innovation. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can drive technical excellence, mentor teams, and align SAP solutions with business goals.
What we do
The Enterprise Applications team is responsible for delivering and maintaining the business-critical platforms that power Symbotic’s core operations, spanning areas such as Human Resources, Finance, and Customer Operations. Reporting to the CTO through the CIO, this team oversees the full application lifecycle of enterprise systems, with a particular emphasis on SAP and its ecosystem. The DevOps function within the team ensures seamless integration, deployment, and ongoing reliability of SAP solutions, enabling efficient, scalable, and secure business processes across the company. Their work is central to driving operational excellence and supporting strategic objectives at the highest levels of the organization.
What you’ll do
Technical Leadership
SAP Basis Administration: Oversee system installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
ABAP Development & DevOps: Lead and mentor ABAP development teams; manage enhancements, reports, BAPIs, BADIs, and workflows; implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for SAP applications.
SAP BTP Development: Design, develop, and deploy applications and extensions using SAP BTP services such as CPI, SAP Build, Fiori, and HANA.
Cloud-Native Solutions: Build scalable, maintainable applications using SAP CAP, CDS views, and Fiori Elements.
Dev-Sec-Ops Integration: Embed security practices early in the development lifecycle to ensure compliance and enhance system integrity.
Leadership & Strategy
Team Management: Lead cross-functional DevOps teams, providing technical direction and ensuring system availability, performance, and security.
Collaboration: Partner with SAP consultants, business analysts, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Strategic Planning: Champion DevOps adoption within the SAP landscape, aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of emerging SAP technologies and trends; explore AI-driven automation and other innovations to enhance efficiency.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in SAP ABAP development and SAP Basis administration (cloud and on-premises).
Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing SAP DevOps teams.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience leading S/4HANA end-to-end implementations.
Strong understanding of SOX compliance controls and reporting.
Proven expertise in SAP BTP, DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD tools.
Experience with SAP RISE - Private Cloud Edition.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Capability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Experience working with Agile Scrum methodology and phase gate development strategies.
Our Environment
Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
