Job Title:  Manager                                                 Division: Risk Consulting - ESG, Marsh Advisory                                                                             

Region: Europe                                                             Base Location: Mumbai

Purpose of Role

As a part of the Advisory, Consulting Solutions team in Knowledge Services function of MMGS, the candidate will support our colleagues in the Europe region, with sales enablement, and working on high-impact advisory engagements related to ESG areas as part of Strategic Risk Consulting

We will count on you to:

  • Partner with leadership team to set the strategic direction and expand the capabilities, scale and scope of the team through intensive, hands-on leadership
  • Work on advisory services including ESG/Sustainability Advisory, Sustainability/non-financial reporting, Climate Change and impact assessment studies among others
  • Drive and deliver high-impact ESG advisory engagements. Incubate new research, data analytics and benchmarking capabilities, enable innovation, drive organization wide initiatives and expand the range of proprietary knowledge assets
  • Analyze and assess company sustainability performance, identifying gaps in ESG data collection, reporting processes, and disclosure practices
  • Support the development of sustainability strategies to enhance corporate transparency and meet CSRD obligations by implementing CSRD requirements across client portfolios, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards
  • Relevant experience in sustainability reporting with a proven track record of outstanding performance in the following areas:  Sustainability Reporting Frameworks, Materiality assessment and ESG Ratings
  • Stay updated on developments in EU sustainability legislation and its impact on financial institutions.
  • Manage delivery of the team on research and advisory projects by monitoring performance to ensure productivity, timeliness and quality of reports
  • Able to support on decarbonization projects, support on conducting GHG accounting activities
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders through high quality project delivery, responsiveness and agile and clear communication. counsel consultants and clients on the scope of the business and economic trends surrounding the issue, and provide insights and analysis
  • Work with client engagements to comprehend and navigate reporting standards (e.g. EU Taxonomy, CSRD, ISSB, GRI, UN SDGs, SASB, TCFD, CDP, GHG protocol), develop processes, controls and technology-based solutions to support reporting and develop strategies addressing sustainability risks
  • Share relevant subject matter expertise to support the development of thought leadership on sustainability processes and controls and to create customized solutions
  • Build solutions that is a combination of quantitative and qualitative inputs and techniques
  • Leverage a solid understanding of business trends, issues, and concepts, to respond efficiently to complex research questions by delivering synthesized, actionable facts and insights to our consulting teams and clients

What you need to have: 

  • Masters / Bachelors in Economics or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) / sustainability, corporate responsibility, or finance, environmental science, business administration, sustainability, economics, or related field.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in strategy advisory, research (quantitative and qualitative | secondary) experience, at a leading professional services / consulting firm / market intelligence / research firm
  • Experience in consulting projects and conducting independent secondary research
  • Deep understanding of global marketplace, key trends, economic and geo-political developments, technological developments, global supply chain, and key business and financial risks
  • Strong ability to weave a story using multiple data points. Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Strong awareness on regulatory developments in sustainability, including CSRD, SFDR, IFRS, GRI and the EU Taxonomy etc.
  • Strong foundation of qualitative and quantitative research including clarity on statistical concepts with ability to translate data into meaningful insights
  • Ability to develop and maintain robust ESG methodologies.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as Python is a plus.
  • Great written and verbal communication
  • A team player with extraordinary interpersonal skills
  • Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

What makes you stand out?

  • CFA/GARP/CFA ESG Investing / EFFAS Certified ESG Analyst certification etc.
  • Familiarity with core statistical concepts e.g., correlation, regressions, significance values, etc.
  • Exposure, experience in risk consulting related research or advisory support in related verticals would be preferred
  • Ability to take initiatives to strive for improvement in analytical techniques, processes and outputs
