As we expand our in-house renters claims handling capabilities, we’re seeking a Claims Manager to lead this growing operation.
The Manager, Renters Claims will be responsible for operational performance by leading the day-to-day activities of a new and growing operation within MSI Claims. The Manager is considered an expert in managing insurance claims on an individual and portfolio level, serving as a primary point of contact for our clients. The ability to develop relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse range of clients, carriers and colleagues is a key success factor in this role. Furthermore, the Manager will be expected to develop the technical and customer service skills of Claims Examiners. Strategic vision coupled with tactical execution that efficiently drives positive outcomes is critical to the overall success of this position. Renters insurance coverage knowledge and previous renters claims handling/oversight experience strongly preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities and service delivery of Claims Supervisors, Claims Examiners, and/or other claims professionals.
- Manages performance/KPIs to operational and financial targets.
- Responsible for developing relationships and effectively communicating with a diverse range of clients, carriers and colleagues.
- Responsible for oversight of TPA performance.
- Monitors vendor performance and controls expenses.
- Responsible for managing insurance claims on a portfolio level for our clients.
- Responsible for developing the technical, customer service and leadership skills across the operation.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Renters Claims Operation
- Works with insurance company partners and clients in establishing claims protocols that ensure proper reporting, notification, settlement authorities, etc.
- Provides summaries of claims reviews, activities, etc. to appropriate Advisors, Senior Leaders, and other colleagues and clients as necessary.
- Participates in claims audits, internal and external.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent operational management skills
- Strong coaching, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and provide superior customer service over the phone and through digital/written correspondence.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Teams, Word, Excel, and various other computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize new computer systems and other technologies.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments, and to seek guidance where needed.
- Demonstrates the organization’s core values, aligned with the firm’s culture.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience in claims; Renters insurance coverage knowledge and renters claims handling experience/oversight preferred.
- Experience leading a team comprised of 6 or more claims professionals.
- Must have Property & Casualty Insurance License or be willing to obtain a license within the first 90 days of hire and maintain a license going forward.
