About Us:

Notion helps you build beautiful tools for your life’s work. In today's world of endless apps and tabs, Notion provides one place for teams to get everything done, seamlessly connecting docs, notes, projects, calendar, and email—with AI built in to find answers and automate work. Millions of users, from individuals to large organizations like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, love Notion for its flexibility and choose it because it helps them save time and money.

In-person collaboration is essential to Notion's culture. We require all team members to work from our offices on Mondays and Thursdays, our designated Anchor Days. Certain teams or positions may require additional in-office workdays.

About the Role:

You will lead the Japan Relationship Manager team, focused on our highest‑penetration wall‑to‑wall customers. Your mission is to institutionalize renewal excellence and expand customer value, ensuring predictable, on‑time renewals and driving AI democratization. You’ll set operating rhythms, intervene on high‑risk deals, and partner closely with Account Executives, Customer Success Managers, Partner Sales, and Customer Experience teams to deliver outcomes. You will coach, hire, and level-up the team, turning best practices into repeatable playbooks.

What You’ll Do:
  1. Renewal operating cadence and forecasting

    • Establish quarterly renewal pipeline visibility and improve forecast accuracy.

    • Define leading risk signals to surface issues early and drive timely mitigation.

  2. Leading and managing the escalation of high‑risk renewals

    • Define intervention criteria; lead exec‑to‑exec alignment and orchestrate cross‑functional swarms.

  3. Cross‑functional standardization

    • Operationalize collaboration with cross-functional Go-To-Market teams with clear roles and responsibilities for execution.

  4. Team development and playbooks

    • Hire, coach, and set expectations. Author and operationalize playbooks, interview rubrics, and coaching loops.

  5. Executive advocacy and market influence

    • Tell compelling Japan‑native customer stories, including AI add‑ons, value realization, and publish references.

  6. Product and insights feedback

    • Channel customer insights to influence product, especially AI, search, integrations, and governance.

Japan‑Specific Nuances To Keep In Mind:
  • Balance “protecting existing value” in high‑penetration accounts with “AI democratization.”

  • In cases without a dedicated CSM, lead RM‑driven onboarding through renewal.

  • Maintain clear, written standards while staying pragmatic to local context and prior internal alignment.

What You’ll Bring (Must‑Haves):
  • Account management business acumen with high‑volume renewal operations experience; strong plan vs. actual management.

  • Deal leadership and negotiation owning revenue outcomes; experience structuring terms with Deal Desk, Legal and Finance.

  • Stakeholder management across layers, from end users to executives; clear escalation criteria and crisis command.

  • Operations design: process definition, metrics instrumentation, and documentation for repeatability.

  • People management; 2+ years of experience building a team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.

  • Executive presence, including reference architectures and AI thought leadership for executive audiences.

  • Language: Native‑level Japanese; business level English.

Nice to Haves:
  • SaaS experience managing large SMB–MM books (≈80–100 accounts) in Japan.

  • Channel/partner co‑selling experience.

  • Enterprise proposals including AI add‑ons and governance features.

We hire talented and passionate people from a variety of backgrounds. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every bullet, please apply.
