As an R&D Procurement Manager or Staff, you will be responsible for managing the spend of assigned categories in Japan and the workflow of third party resources supporting the business.

Responsibilities

・    Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the in-scope categories, their relevant industries/markets, and GSK’s forward-looking capability requirements and use this knowledge to engage with senior stakeholders to help shape, assess, and source GSK’s R&D requirements.
・    Manage Workflow of third party suppliers/resources
・    Manage non-standard workflow queries by interacting across a Matrix Organization
・    Prepare and Present Analytic & metrics reports routinely to leadership
・    Compare current and historical trends in workflow, proactively drive improvement
・    Allocation of appropriate contracting resources
・    Delivering resourcing solutions by optimizing resources more effectively
・    Ensure Master and service-level agreements are strategically aligned with R&D Business goals by engaging all relevant stakeholders in the sourcing strategy and contract management activities and delivering a strategy for most efficient contracting and buying-channel.
・    Build strategic relationships and ensure the appropriate communication is in place with relevant GSK stakeholders; understand business requirements, identify opportunities to create value, position Procurement’s value proposition, and align sourcing strategies to assurance of supply (risk management), compliance, quality, service, cost and innovation.
 

Qualifications/Skills
Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience, preferably in a regulated industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills in both Japanese (native level) and English (business level)
  • Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and basic procurement system (e.g. Ariba)

Preferred:

  • Experience in R&D procurement or sourcing within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Knowledge of clinical development processes and functional service provider (FSP) models
  • Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management for R&D services
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Familiarity with global procurement processes and matrix organizations
