Overview & Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Quality Manager has the overall responsibility to ensure that every product manufactured by the Company meets customer expectations and industry standards. This position interfaces with both internal and external contacts and serves as the Company’s quality liaison with both the customer and Internal production people.
This is a leadership position providing guidance and direction to a quality assurance team that is responsible for project quality. It is responsible for directing and meeting customer purchase order inspection and test requirements.
Role Responsibilities

Monitor, measure, and review existing internal processes that impact the quality of the Company’s products

Improve product Quality, reduce defects and reduce COPQ.

Provide direction and leadership consistent with company and business plan goals.

The position is responsible for managing necessary customer pre-inspection meetings / final inspections/ customer inspections. Also, it may include managing any necessary third-party inspection agencies.

Maintains a comprehensive customer specification comment and exception process including the definition of the interfaces of Elliott’s internal departments and customers.

Manages the pre-contract / inspection and test plan development process which includes the incorporation of customer specification requirements for use by Elliott’s internal departments.

Manages the quality documentation (MDR) process.

Works with the internal teams analyzing and providing solutions to corrective action request, including customer complaints.

Perform analysis of quality deficiencies (NCRs), using project quality metrics and non-conformance reports to determine the need for corrective actions.

Responsible for developing training plans and providing career support and guidance to subordinates.

Works to prevent recurring problems by recommending and initiating nonconformance reports and recommends drawing and process changes to improve quality and reduce costs.

Participate in design reviews and provide input on designing quality into the product.

Resolve customer complaints/concerns resulting from witnessed inspections and testing of Elliott product.

Responsible for Managing the day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance group.

Has the authority to make decisions related to: Personnel scheduling, salary administration of the team, Elliott’s ability to meet certain customer requirements, acceptability of Elliott suppliers, acceptability of records and other documentation created internally or from suppliers, and related to customer witness notifications
Scope

Ability to solve customer complaints, Internal complaints using various problem-solving tools like 8D, 5 why analysis, Cause and Effect diagram, FMEA, Error proofing techniques, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and analyze data utilizing Six Sigma methodology.

Ability to lead a team and solve problems.

Direct and drive the utilization of problem-solving methods for related plant and customer issues.

Responsible for improving process efficiency through best practices, SOP's, and lean manufacturing.

Focuses on managerial concerns of projects such as cost, completion date, and resource allocation.

Provides resolution of issues and monitors integration of work.

Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers on a regular basis.
Experience and Education
-
Bachelor’s degree with 15 years’ experience
-
Preferred education and/or certifications including: Master’s degree, ASQ, CQE, CQA, CQM, CRE, Six Sigma Black Belt or NDE Level III (Various disciplines)

5+ years managing a quality department

Experience in automotive industry or Aerospace is preferred.

Strong leadership skills, Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, Excellent organizational and prioritization skills process efficiency through best practices, SOP's, and lean

Detailed knowledge of the ISO 9000 series of quality specifications and quality engineering practices are essential.

General knowledge of the various industry standards such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code, American Petroleum Institute (API) standards, Government standards, classification societies for floating vessel (ABS, BV, DNV)

Understanding of an engineered product project lifecycle (quotation, planning, procurement, product realization and shipping)

Knowledge of Turbomachinery & Rotating Equipment preferred
