Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a team of engineers designing high-voltage, high-power density power stages for propulsion inverters and generator rectifiers
- Oversee the selection and integration of power semiconductors (SiC/GaN), gate drivers, isolated power supplies, DC-link capacitors, and busbar architectures
- Drive the end-to-end hardware development cycle from architecture selection and thermal simulation through PCBA layout, DFM/DFA, and volume production
- Manage technical engagement with power semiconductor and passive component suppliers, PCB fabricators, and contract manufacturers to ensure quality and scalability
- Lead hardware qualification campaigns (environmental, electrical, reliability) per DO-160G and DO-254 standards
- Collaborate with mechanical and thermal teams to optimize power density, cooling strategies, and electromechanical packaging
- Build and mentor a high-performing team while managing program schedules, budgets, and technical roadmaps
What you need:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of power electronics design experience
- 3+ years of demonstrated people management experience leading technical teams
- Deep expertise in power stage design: switching topologies, wide bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN), gate drive circuits, and isolated bias supplies
- Experience designing high-voltage (400-1000V) systems with strict thermal, EMC, and reliability constraints
- Strong background in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design and optimization for high-speed switching circuits
- Proficiency with simulation tools (PLECS, LTspice) and EDA environments (Altium, Mentor Graphics)
- Strong background in PCBA manufacturing processes, volume production, and supplier quality management
- Proven ability to lead teams through complex technical challenges and competing priorities
Bonus Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics
- Experience bringing high-power electronics products to volume production in automotive or aerospace sectors
- Familiarity with aerospace certification standards (DO-160G, DO-254)
- Passion for sustainable aviation and electric propulsion technology
