Job Description


Plans and directs the activities of a group of program engineers to meet site goals and objectives. Provides technical guidance and leadership to direct reports and within the engineering organization. Develops and conducts work in accordance with company's policies, priorities and budget constraints. Manages and/or develops budgets for assigned function or department including operating requirements and equipment and material purchases. Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses engineering project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Provides technical oversight and assistance to other departments as required.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project and people management including the technical assessment of all assigned projects. Will successfully lead the team to deliver key programs or projects per associated quality, time and cost constraints
  • Drives functional excellence initiatives, high quality functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for product or technical development
  • Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense and capital) for final review and approval
  • Provide strategic direction and guides the team in complex or difficult situations, removes obstacles, assigns appropriate resources and interfaces with other functions to assist with issue resolution
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff
  • Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources
  • Responsible for the implementation, enforcement and compliance of all relevant quality, regulatory and safety standards
  • Manage resources to support program schedules, balancing needs, priorities and cost
  • Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and mentoring/coaching others in rapid problem solving and improvement
  • Establish priorities imparting a sense of urgency and importance to effectively deliver new products per quality, cost and time constraints
  • Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Drive accountability to timelines and metrics throughout the organization
  • Frequent coordination with internal personnel at various management levels concerning operations, scheduling or specific phases of projects or programs
  • Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific operations
  • Frequently is involved simultaneously in several programs. Ensures product and customer service quality. Resolves issues and/or team conflicts. Will have primary responsibility for program growth and developing current customer base
  • Meets with program managers, support staff, vendors, and customers to solicit cooperation and resolve problems
  • Conducts briefings to Senior Management
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of technical program-related experience in a government contracting environment
  • BS Degree in Engineering, science or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in the management of technical personnel and programs

Skills Required

  • 8+ years of technical program-related experience in a government contracting environment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field
