Position Summary:

Production Planning Manager oversees the scheduling and planning of production activities, ensuring efficient use of resources, timely delivery of products, and optimal productivity. Responsibilities include inventory management, process optimization, and coordination with other departments. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and optimize resources utilization 
  • Confer with employees at all levels of the company to discuss progress regarding customer orders and production scheduling to resolve problems and ensure standards of service, quality and product delivery are met.  
  • Maintaining inventory levels/safety stock levels.  
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate forecasting and timely delivery of products 
  • Partner with Inventory Control Manager, Warehouse Manager(s) and Supply chain teams to determine part availability.  
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards 
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, cost, and quality 
  • Lead and coach production planning team members to achieve performance goals and objectives 
  • Identify material requirements from production and new product requirements  
  • Communicate production status, issues, and risks to senior management and stakeholders 
  • Offer technical expertise to cross functional project team.  
  • Provide a work environment where employees are actively involved in proactive measures towards production goals and safety.  
  • Maintain a culture of open and robust communication to facilitate and enhance the achievement of business goals and objectives and work across functional groups.  
  • Align departmental goals and objectives to support business growth and financial objectives.  

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.   
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate production bottlenecks 
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of production planners, and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of products 
  • Thorough understanding of replenishment concepts and MRP/ERP planning.   
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and logistics partners 
  • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies 
  • Availability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing production schedules 

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Supply Chain Management or equivalent.  
  • Minimum 5 years in performing a similar position in lieu of Education. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning and scheduling in a manufacturing environment 
  • CPIM or APIC certification a Plus 
  • Expertise in using production planning software such as Oracle, or similar 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Manufacturing Environment 
  • May lift up to 50 lbs.  
  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time 
  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer
