Job Summary

The Manager, Product Marketing- Power Reliability is responsible for leading the Product Marketing function for Phoenix Contact USA’s Power Reliability business. This position provides direct leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to a team of Product Marketing Managers responsible for industrial power supplies, DIN rail UPS systems, energy storage solutions, electronic circuit protection, and related power reliability products.  Working closely with the Director, Power Reliability, the Manager, Product Marketing – Power Reliability ensures alignment between business strategy, portfolio management, go-to-market execution, and customer needs. The role is accountable for developing talent, driving portfolio growth initiatives, improving commercialization effectiveness, and establishing best practices that enable sustainable business growth.  The successful candidate combines strong leadership capabilities with expertise in product marketing, market analysis, product portfolio management, and industrial automation markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Marketing Managers and Senior Product Marketing Managers.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability standards, and individual development plans.
  • Build succession plans and talent development strategies to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop future product marketing talent.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a mentor and escalation point for complex portfolio, market, and business decisions.
  • Create alignment across multiple product families, market segments, and cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers to develop and execute portfolio growth strategies.
  • Lead portfolio planning activities and support long-term business strategy development.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and business performance assessments.
  • Ensure portfolio roadmaps align with business objectives, customer needs, and market trends.
  • Review and challenge strategic assumptions, investment priorities, and market opportunities.
  • Guide teams in identifying market trends, emerging technologies, competitive threats, and growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate product lifecycle decisions, including new product introductions, portfolio rationalization, and end-of-life planning.
  • Develop and strengthen organizational capabilities in market intelligence, portfolio management, and strategic planning.
  • Provide strategic oversight of product positioning, value propositions, pricing strategies, and commercialization plans.
  • Drive consistent execution of go-to-market processes across the organization.
  • Ensure successful launch planning and commercialization of new products.
  • Review market segmentation strategies and customer engagement approaches.
  • Oversee development of sales enablement tools, product training, and competitive intelligence resources.
  • Promote adoption of best practices that improve sales effectiveness and customer engagement.
  • Champion Voice of Customer initiatives and ensure insights are incorporated into portfolio and market strategies.
  • Support strategic customer engagements, executive customer meetings, industry events, and trade associations.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to identify unmet customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance across revenue, profitability, market share, and growth objectives.
  • Support annual planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
  • Review demand forecasts, market outlooks, and business assumptions developed by Product Marketing Managers.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and facilitate prioritization of product and portfolio investments.
  • Identify business risks, opportunities, and corrective actions required to achieve financial and strategic objectives.
  • Assess and communicate the financial impact of portfolio decisions, pricing actions, and growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary product marketing representative across Engineering, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing.
  • Ensure alignment between product development priorities and market requirements.
  • Facilitate decision-making on strategic product investments and portfolio priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve business performance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure consistency of product marketing processes, tools, governance, and best practices across the organization.
  • Foster collaboration between product marketing, sales, engineering, and operational teams.
  • Other duties as assigned by ones manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 8-12+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Product Management, Marketing, or Business Development.
  • 3-5+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading product managers or product marketing professionals.
  • Experience managing industrial technology products and portfolios.
  • Experience with product launches, portfolio planning, and commercialization strategies.
  • Experience in one or more industrial technology markets, including industrial automation, industrial power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), energy storage systems, electrical infrastructure, electronic circuit protection, process automation, building automation, industrial networking, or control panel technologies.
  • Demonstrated success leading, developing, and coaching high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to influence across organizational levels, drive change initiatives, and build strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Experience developing and executing portfolio strategies that drive growth, profitability, and market share.
  • Strong market analysis and competitive intelligence capabilities, with the ability to identify opportunities, emerging trends, and business risks.
  • Ability to develop compelling business cases and translate market insights into actionable strategic initiatives.
  • Experience leading go-to-market activities, including product positioning, commercialization planning, and product launch execution.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies and value proposition development that support business objectives and customer needs.
  • Proven ability to support sales organizations through effective sales enablement tools, product training, and customer-focused marketing initiatives.
  • Strong customer engagement skills with experience incorporating Voice of Customer insights into business and portfolio strategies.
  • Solid financial acumen, including experience managing revenue growth, profitability, forecasting, and budget planning.
  • Ability to evaluate investment opportunities, prioritize resources, and assess the financial impact of strategic business decisions.
  • Experience balancing short-term business objectives with long-term strategic planning and portfolio development.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to lead through complexity and ambiguity.

Essential Job Functions

  • Must be able to travel via airplane for up to 14 hours
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time
  • Must be able to travel overnight
  • Must be able to sit for 4 hours at a time
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office, unless otherwise specified.
