Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Manager, Product Design leads the product design team at SVG and contributes hands-on to the design of one or more SVG products. You will coordinate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of design planning and approach. You will play a critical role in shaping the UI/UX of our products and driving design excellence within the organization.

This person would be working a flex schedule, working some days in our KC office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The essential duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the product design team: Manage, mentor, and inspire the product design team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Conduct user research: Plan and conduct user research activities, including usability testing, surveys, and user interviews, to understand personas, user flows, and journey maps
  • Advocates for the user experience: Champion user-centered design principles throughout the organization, promoting a culture of empathy and user focus.
  • Partner with stakeholders: Partners with business stakeholders to understand user needs, documents requirements, and communicate decisions
  • Develop UI prototypes: Create interactive prototypes and wireframes using Figma and other industry tools to communicate design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders.
  • Contribute to design systems: Develop and maintain UI style guides and design systems to ensure consistency across all products.
  • Lead design strategy & operations: Lead development and maintenance of organizational design system, design principles, and processes
  • Stay current with industry trends: Analyze user data, feedback, performance metrics, competitors, and industry trends to produce recommended ways to improve the user experience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and strategy teams to ensure alignment between business goals, user needs, and technical feasibility and lead projects through delivery.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements to fulfill this position are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • Proficient in developing design systems
  • Modeling, wireframing, prototyping software (i.e. Figma, Lucidchart, etc…)
  • Proficient in understanding a variety of agile methodologies (i.e. Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban).
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Detail oriented
