Summary Generated by Built In

We're seeking a Manager, People Business Partner to serve as the dedicated HR point of contact for Petra's co-source and lift-out client teams — a population that has more than doubled in the past year to 185+ employees across 20+ distinct client relationships within the U.S. and Canada. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role is critical to how we scale support for our fastest-growing, highest-touch business unit.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in New York. The expectation is for this individual to work from our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for Petra's co-source and lift-out client teams, building trusted relationships with client-facing partners and each team's on-the-ground leadership
  • Own and administer bespoke policies and HR terms unique to each co-source and lift-out engagement, ensuring consistency with the underlying client agreement while staying aligned with Petra's broader HR framework
  • Manage and support the lift-out process end-to-end — pre-close diligence and planning, Day 1 transition and onboarding, and post-close integration — coordinating with Partnerships, Legal, and Payroll to ensure a clean handoff into Petra's HR infrastructure
  • Act as the go-to HR resource for the 40+ managers overseeing this population, fielding day-to-day questions, escalations, and policy exceptions specific to each engagement
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle for co-source/lift-out staff — onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, leave administration, offboarding — accounting for the specific terms of each client relationship
  • Track growth and utilization trends within this population and flag capacity or relationship-management risks to leadership before they become problems
  • Support performance-cycle execution and compensation planning for co-source/lift-out employees, coordinating between client expectations and Petra's internal processes
  • Maintain data integrity and reporting for this population across HRIS and other HR systems, ensuring accurate headcount, org, and compliance records per client engagement
  • Partner with the Senior Manager and broader People team on ad hoc strategic projects — benchmarking, headcount planning, and HR infrastructure — with a focus on scaling support as this segment continues to grow

What You'll Need:

  • 3–5+ years in HR/People Operations, ideally within financial services, professional services, or another environment involving embedded, outsourced, or client-facing teams
  • Comfort managing multiple concurrent stakeholder relationships with distinct policies and terms — there's no single standard playbook here
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and performance management platforms (e.g., Rippling, Lattice, or similar); strong Excel/data skills
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage full-cycle programs and relationships with minimal oversight
  • Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail across a high volume of non-standardized, concurrent arrangements
  • Proven ability to navigate complex and fast-changing organizational structures
  • Clear, professional communicator, comfortable engaging with client-facing partners and senior leadership
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential information with discretion

Salary Range

At Petra Funds Group, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The compensation range for this position is $110,000 – $135,000 per year. This range represents the base salary only. Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
