Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The Manager Payments will handle technical definition, solution design, integration readiness and lifecycle management of MTN MoMo consumer-to-business payment propositions. Its primary focus is to translate customer and business needs into clear functional requirements, scalable payment journeys and production-ready solutions across offline acceptance, bill and service payments, online and in-app payments, API-enabled collections, QR, merchant payments and card-linked or emerging payment use cases.
The role requires a payments product professional with strong technical fluency to guide architecture and integration discussions, coordinate testing and production readiness, resolve delivery dependencies and strengthen platform performance. Customer adoption, portfolio activation and sustainable usage will be managed as outcomes of dependable product design and delivery rather than as stand-alone commercial activity.

• Coordinate targeted usage-building interventions informed by segment needs, transaction funnels and customer behavior, with clear success measures and post-implementation learning.

• Ensure new integrations progress from technical completion to live, stable and actively used payment propositions.

Performance, Reliability and Service Optimization

• Own performance dashboards covering activation, conversion, repeat usage, volumes, values, success rates, availability, latency, complaints, reconciliation exceptions and partner performance.

• Analyze payment journeys and failure points from initiation through confirmation, settlement and reconciliation, and prioritize corrective product or technology actions.

• Use service data, customer feedback and transaction behavior to improve product journeys, technical performance and adoption.

Stakeholder, Risk and Governance Management

• Ensure product designs, integrations, customer journeys and activation interventions are reviewed through applicable governance processes.

• Work with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Finance, Revenue Assurance and Operations to embed appropriate technical and operational controls.
