A Brief Overview
Manages the operations and services delivery of assigned areas of responsibility for the Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Laboratories. Ensures that programs, policies, and procedures are established and implemented to meet customer needs, department standards, and regulatory agency requirements. Assesses and determines the staffing needs and practices of the department to optimize the utilization of personnel. Provides leadership and direction to staff in the achievement of business objectives. Ensures operational effectiveness and productivity needs are met.

What you will do
  • Manages the operations and services delivery of assigned areas of responsibility for the clinical laboratories. Ensure that programs, policies and procedures are developed and implemented in accordance with department, quality and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains and meets laboratory regulatory requirements at optimum level including staff competency and training.
  • Ensure that programs, policies and procedures are developed and implemented in accordance with department, quality and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Provides leadership to supervisors and staff in the implementation of new processes and techniques. Collaborates with Laboratory and Medical Directors, as well as external stakeholders in establishing strategic plans and development of new programs to improve efficiency, quality, compliance, service and financial outcomes for the laboratories.
  • Develops, administers, and monitors the operating budget and cost accounting data for assigned area of responsibility. Collaborates with the Laboratory leadership team and Finance Director to ensure that capital and operating budget needs are developed, implemented, and monitored to meet the financial goals of the organization.
  • Manages operational issues related to Laboratory Information System (LIS) and provides leadership in the development and maintenance of the LIS. Provides input and operational decisions in the implementation of information systems projects. Provides feedback for future information technology.
  • Provides leadership and support to supervisors and staff to monitor operating performance, standardize laboratory practices, optimize human and financial resources, maintain productivity and resolve technical, service and non-operational issues.
  • Supports the development and implementation of quality assurance programs; provide leadership and support to the section supervisors and staff to develop systems and tools to measure satisfaction and quality of care against industry benchmarks.
  • Rotates as lab manager-on-call for the consolidated laboratories and under the guidance of the medical director or director of operations, directs response to critical or emergent situations.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university

Experience Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible directly related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to develop financial budgets and manage expenses
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities
  • Ability to solve technical and non-technical problems
  • Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader
  • Knowledge of section specific laboratory sciences
  • Knowledge of laboratory controls, methods, procedures and regulations
  • Knowledge of mathematics general science and laboratory techniques

Licenses and Certifications
  • CLS . or
  • ASCP Certification in Pathology field (CG, CT, HT, HTL, PA) . or
  • Other related certification or background . or
  • CIS .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $74.73 - $99.04 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
