The Role:

We are looking for a Manager, Intercompany Accounting to join our US Accounting Team. As a Manager, Intercompany Accounting, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

In this role, you will own the global intercompany accounting process across IonQ’s growing portfolio of domestic and international legal entities. This is a hands-on, player-coach position: you will personally execute the monthly intercompany close and transfer pricing entries while designing the scalable processes, systems, and controls that will carry the function as IonQ grows. The ideal candidate pairs deep technical knowledge of intercompany, consolidation, and foreign currency accounting with a strong bias toward automation and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

Intercompany Close & Transfer Pricing

  • Intercompany Close Ownership: Own the end-to-end monthly intercompany close, including preparation and review of intercompany journal entries, cross-charges, and cost allocations across all IonQ legal entities.
  • Transfer Pricing Execution: Calculate, book, and support intercompany transfer pricing entries — including cost-plus service arrangements, markups, and IP/royalty charges — in accordance with IonQ’s transfer pricing policies.
  • Tax Partnership: Partner with Tax and external advisors to translate transfer pricing policy and intercompany agreements into operational accounting entries, and to support annual transfer pricing documentation.
  • Reconciliation & Settlement: Reconcile intercompany balances between entities, resolve out-of-balance conditions at the source, and manage the periodic intercompany settlement and netting cycle with Treasury.

Consolidation & Foreign Currency

  • Eliminations: Prepare and review intercompany eliminations for the monthly consolidation, ensuring balances fully eliminate and are supported by underlying documentation.
  • Foreign Currency: Account for FX remeasurement and translation on intercompany balances, including long-term-investment-nature designations under ASC 830, and analyze intercompany FX gain/loss.
  • Legal Entity Reporting: Support standalone legal entity financials and coordinate with local accounting providers on statutory reporting and audit requirements for international subsidiaries.
  • New Entity Onboarding: Support the accounting integration of newly acquired and newly formed entities, including establishing intercompany flows, mapping intercompany agreements, and aligning the chart of accounts.

Process, Systems & Automation

  • Process Design: Build and document scalable intercompany processes, calendars, and policies that reduce manual effort and shorten the close.
  • Systems & Automation: Drive intercompany automation within OneStream, including automated intercompany transactions, elimination logic, and multi-book and multi-currency configuration partnering with IT and external implementation resources.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify root causes of recurring intercompany discrepancies and implement upstream fixes across AP, AR, Payroll, and Procurement rather than downstream corrections.
  • Stakeholder Enablement: Train and support entity controllers, shared services, and business partners on intercompany requirements and proper transaction routing.

Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Internal Controls: Design, document, and execute internal controls over the intercompany and consolidation processes, and remediate control gaps as the control environment scales.
  • Audit Support: Serve as the primary intercompany contact for external auditors, preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation (PBC list items) for quarterly reviews and the year-end audit.
  • Technical Accounting: Research and document accounting positions on intercompany, consolidation, and foreign currency matters under US GAAP (ASC 810, ASC 830), and monitor policy compliance across entities.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including intercompany accounting in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment
  • Hands-on experience preparing intercompany eliminations and supporting a consolidated monthly close
  • Working knowledge of transfer pricing concepts and the ability to translate transfer pricing policy into accounting entries
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including consolidation (ASC 810) and foreign currency (ASC 830)
  • Experience designing and operating internal controls in a SOX or SOX-readiness environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets and build repeatable analyses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain intercompany requirements to non-accountants across geographies
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Experience with a Big Four accounting firm or other national accounting firm
  • Hands-on experience with OneStream, NetSuite, particularly OneWorld, multi-book accounting, and automated intercompany management
  • Public company experience, including SEC reporting timelines and SOX 404 compliance
  • Experience supporting international subsidiaries and coordinating with local statutory accountants and auditors
  • Experience integrating newly acquired entities into an existing accounting and consolidation structure
  • Demonstrated success automating manual accounting processes and reducing close cycle time
  • Willingness to take on challenges and think constructively to solve problems

What We Do

Quantum computers are a revolutionizing technology — they have the potential to transform business, society, and the planet for the better, and IonQ is at the forefront of this revolution. After over 25 years of academic research, IonQ was founded in 2015 by Chris Monroe and Jungsang Kim with $2 million in seed funding from New Enterprise Associates, a license to core technology from the University of Maryland and Duke University, and the goal of taking trapped ion quantum computing out of the lab and into the market. In the following three years, we raised an additional $20 million from GV, Amazon Web Services, and NEA, and built two of the world’s most accurate quantum computers. In 2019, we raised another $55 million in a round led by Samsung and Mubadala, and announced partnerships with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services to make our quantum computers available via the cloud. In 2020 and 2021, we built additional generations of high performance quantum hardware, added Google Cloud Marketplace to our cloud partner roster and announced a series of collaborations and business partnerships with leading academic and commercial institutions. On October 1st, 2021, IonQ began trading as IONQ on the New York Stock Exchange, making it the world's first public pure-play quantum computing company. We remain hard at work realizing the world-changing potential of quantum computing.

Why Work With Us
