Technical Accounting Manager I
We’re looking for a Technical Accounting Manager I to join our Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting team. In this role, you’ll research and advise on complex accounting matters, develop accounting policies and support Pinterest’s external reporting. You’ll join a small, highly collaborative team with broad exposure across the business and have opportunities to leverage AI and automation to build scalable accounting processes and internal resources.
What you’ll do:
- Independently review contracts and analyze complex, material or confidential transactions to establish the appropriate accounting treatment under US GAAP
- Research technical accounting matters and prepare clear, well-supported accounting memoranda, policies and practical guidance across topics such as leases, share-based compensation, capitalized software, infrastructure and hosting arrangements, long-lived asset impairment, contingencies and restructuring
- Serve as a technical accounting resource to internal stakeholders, translating complex accounting requirements into practical guidance and providing training to internal teams
- Partner with Accounting Operations, Finance, Legal, Real Estate, and other teams to advise on transactions and resolve accounting matters
- Monitor new accounting standards and SEC reporting requirements, assess their financial and operational implications and support the implementation of related policies, processes and controls
- Leverage AI to accelerate research, synthesize accounting guidance and develop scalable internal resources while applying judgment and verification to maintain accuracy, confidentiality and quality
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and related disclosures included in Pinterest’s SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K and the proxy statement
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a related field or equivalent experience and an active CPA certification
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting and/or at a publicly traded company
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including experience researching and applying complex accounting guidance such as ASC 842, Leases; ASC 718, Stock Compensation; ASC 350, Intangible; ASC 360, Property, Plant, and Equipment; and ASC 450, Contingencies
- Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and policies that clearly document accounting conclusions, supporting guidance and relevant judgments
- Understanding of SEC reporting requirements, internal controls and SOX 404
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience explaining complex accounting topics to stakeholders with varying levels of accounting knowledge
- Experience managing multiple priorities and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment with firm reporting deadlines
- Demonstrated experience using AI to improve the speed, quality or scalability of accounting work, with a thoughtful approach to validating outputs, protecting confidential data and maintaining ownership of final conclusions and deliverables
