In Datadog’s Alerting Platform, our mission is to help customers craft and organize monitors that accurately reflect the health of their systems, and to accelerate growth by making it easy to add alerting functionality to new products. The Monitor Notifications team owns the systems that build, route, deliver, and track notifications when monitors trigger. As the Engineering Manager for this team, you’ll help us scale these systems to support rapid growth, expand our capabilities to new product areas, and build a platform that improves consistency for users and client teams. You’ll combine technical and leadership skills every day to improve reliability, scalability, and solve tough product challenges.

What You’ll Do:
- Manage a team of 6-7 talented engineers, ensuring they deliver high quality, timely work and that they’re happy, motivated, and growing
- Write a significant amount of code, lead architectural decisions for new and existing services
- Drive the team to improve operational excellence with performance testing and release goals
- Partner with product managers to identify the most impactful features and capabilities to build
Who You Are:
- You have been building applications for 4+ years and know the platforms/systems you’ve worked on from top to bottom
- You have managed a team of software engineers varying in experience levels, and have a strong record of growing and developing their career path
- You have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at high scale
- You have experience with queueing and streaming technologies, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar tools
- You have experience programming in Java, Go or Python
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent professional experience
