The Manager, HSSE is responsible to the Director, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE), Global Physical Operations, NA Land for overseeing HSE in the East region. This position leads and manages HSE in accordance with regulatory authorities and WFS QHSSE Integrated Management System (IMS). Instill safety standards, safety culture and conducts operational audits of WKC assets in accordance with WFS QHSSE Integrated Management System (IMS) documents and regulatory authorities.

This is an onsite position.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support strategic guidance to the HSE Director (NA Land) in relation to all matters HSE.
  • Support NA Land HSE Director to unify all NA Land documents and produce computer management and tracking system
  • Helps drive the inculcation of WFS QHSSE principles and culture, throughout the NA Land business through training, consultation, and communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Support compliance by communicating and completing WFS QHSSE IMS requirements and conducting training as needed. Provide safety information in form of safety meetings, safety bulletins, toolbox talks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities including EPA, OSHA, Coastguard (OTW Deliveries), etc. Maybe regional specific.
  • Ensures HSE audits of WFS assets are performed per schedule and protocols in the QHSSE IMS system. Reports findings and track action items to completion.
  • Produce and maintain the risk assessments and risk register, legal registers, emergency response plans, documents, policies, and procedures on NA Land SharePoint.
  • Maintains close liaison with industry standards by means on attending courses and representing WFS on Industry committees as applicable.
  • Ensures tracking and completion of all training on the online training platform and face to face training courses.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigate HSE incidents, report and ensure investigation reports are completed in SIRUS. Track monthly leading and lagging KPI reports. Provide investigation training as required to ensure root cause is identified. Track identified action to closure.
  • Support Product Distribution Center (PDC) and employee award schemes. Manage data gathering system, analysis data to support award presentation.
  • Administrative/Review vehicle camera system, provide data and coaching opportunities to PDC managers.
  • Review incident trends and identify initiatives to reduce incident rates.
  • Support internal and external insurance departments in investigations involving claims from incident. Ensure Legal and Insurance departments included as applicable.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education

College degree preferred or applicable work experience.

Experience

5-10 years related work experience in an HSE management role.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of HSE specifically around product distribution center and road transport operations.
  • Training completion or equivalent knowledge in OSHA, EPA, DEQ and Coast Guard courses. This may be region specific.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation techniques.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.

Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements

  • Remit is assigned region and travel frequency is low with possibly national travel.
  • Likely destinations are all land physical locations and those of suppliers/customers.
