The Manager, HSSE Compliance is responsible for ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Management System within Vena Energy's projects and operations in Japan.

This role will drive compliance with HSSE standards, ensure the effective management of incidents, and contribute to the company’s overall HSSE strategy, focusing on both operational and project-based requirements. The Manager, HSSE Compliance will also be responsible for emergency response, business continuity, audits, and maintaining effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. HSSE Management System Development

  • Lead the establishment, enhancement, and implementation of Vena Energy’s HSSE Management System in Japan, ensuring the incorporation of lessons learned and audit findings.
  • Collaborate with project and operation site teams to ensure the consistent and effective implementation of the HSSE Management System, providing guidance on best practices for improvement.

2. Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring a structured approach to identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Review and provide feedback and monitor overall comprehensiveness of incident investigation reports prepared by other teams, ensuring accuracy, timely submission, thoroughness, and quality.
  • Ensure proper follow up and timely closure of Issue reported in internal System, by liasing with relevant parties

3. Learning from Incident

  • Develop and communicate lessons learned from incidents across the organization to ensure continuous learning and improvement.
  • Monitor overall comprehensives of issued lessons learned and ensure the effective implementation of corrective actions.

4. Emergency Response Plan

  • Lead the development and implementation of emergency response plans (ERPs) for various emergency scenarios across project and operation sites.
  • Ensure ERPs are regularly reviewed, tested, and updated to maintain readiness for potential incidents.

5. Business Continuity Plan

  • Support the development and implementation of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) from an HSSE perspective, ensuring preparedness for any disruption to business operations.
  • Ensure business continuity measures align with overall HSSE strategies and company goals.

6. HSSE Audit, Review and Inspection

  • Lead and conduct regular HSSE audits and reviews at project and operational sites to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform scheduled HSSE inspections, ensuring adherence to internal HSSE policies and local regulations

7. HSSE Focal Point for Development Project and Operation & Maintenance

  • Act as the primary HSSE contact for all development projects and operations & maintenance (O&M) activities.
  • Provide HSSE guidance and oversight to ensure development project and O&M teams are meeting minimum requirements

8. Liaise with Stakeholder

  • Liaise with external and internal stakeholders (including contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams) as necessary on all HSSE matters to ensure smooth communication and alignment.

9. Others

  • Provide HSSE training, awareness programs, and support for ongoing HSSE initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and policies to enhance the overall safety culture within Vena Energy Japan.
