Job Description

Why This Role Matters

This Manager role leads a software engineering team responsible for centralizing enterprise accounting data within Expeditors’ Enterprise Core Platform (ECP). This role delivers scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant accounting data capabilities that support the modernization of exp.o Accounting and the controlled retirement of Expeditors’ legacy accounting system.

The Manager balances near-term delivery with operational stability, strong internal controls, employee development, and the long-term transition of centralized accounting data management from Global Financial Reporting (GFR) to ECP.

Team and Technology

This role leads the engineering team responsible for establishing ECP as the authoritative platform for centralized enterprise accounting data and accounting-driven business processes. The team delivers centralized Open Item accounting data, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Provisions, while expanding centralization to General Ledger balances, detailed General Ledger transactions, and File GL Balances used for revenue reporting.

The Manager partners with Accounting, ECP Administration, Product, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and downstream data consumers. The role also oversees deployment-related processes across Accounting-owned systems and helps transition delivery from waterfall-based change management toward automated CI/CD practices.

What Success Looks Like

  • Build a prioritized roadmap for Open Item and General Ledger data centralization.

  • Establish a healthy, accountable engineering team with clear expectations and effective coaching.

  • Deliver production-ready Accounts Receivable data for the ARC replacement integration.

  • Establish a future-state direction for Accounting deployment pipelines and CI/CD modernization.

  • Improve delivery through automated, repeatable, auditable practices and reduced manual production activity.

Key Areas of Impact

Coaching for Growth

  • Lead and develop a team of technical employees through clear expectations, regular coaching conversations, feedback, career development, knowledge sharing, and cross-training to strengthen team capability and support ECP-based accounting initiatives.

  • Foster career growth by helping team members build the skills needed to support centralized accounting data capabilities and long-term team success.

Delivering on Commitments

  • Deliver centralized Open Item and General Ledger accounting data while managing dependencies, risks, controls, and stakeholder commitments to support business objectives.

  • Improve engineering and operational effectiveness through automated, repeatable, and auditable delivery practices while balancing delivery commitments with operational stability and maintainability.

Technical Depth and Delivery

  • Ensure accounting data solutions support enterprise reporting, reconciliation, analytics, regulatory compliance, data quality, traceability, security, reliability, and required internal controls.

  • Lead modernization of deployment-related processes, including future-state deployment pipelines, CI/CD practices, automation, observability, and reduced reliance on manual production activities.

Architectural Scale

  • Establish ECP as the authoritative platform for centralized enterprise accounting data and accounting-driven business processes while supporting the modernization of exp.o Accounting and retirement of legacy accounting systems.

  • Partner with architects, engineering teams, and technical stakeholders to evaluate modernization approaches, deployment pipeline requirements, and long-term accounting data architecture decisions.

Team Collaboration Scale

  • Partner with Accounting, ECP Administration, Product, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and downstream data consumers to establish priorities, resolve dependencies, and align delivery outcomes.

  • Collaborate across Accounting engineering teams to assess deployment practices, identify modernization gaps, and coordinate roadmap priorities supporting centralized accounting data management.

Influence and Advocacy

  • Communicate plans, progress, risks, controls, and modernization objectives while supporting shared decision-making across technical and business stakeholders.

  • Promote consistent, repeatable, and auditable release practices that improve deployment reliability, support internal controls, and advance modernization goals.

Scope of Vision

  • Build and maintain a prioritized roadmap for Open Item and General Ledger data centralization, ensuring dependencies, risks, controls, and stakeholder commitments remain visible.

  • Balance near-term delivery priorities with the long-term transition of centralized accounting data management from Global Financial Reporting (GFR) to ECP.

Scale of Business Understanding and Impact

  • Enable accounting information to be governed and made available for authorized business processes, reporting, reconciliation, analytics, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support Accounting modernization efforts by delivering scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant accounting data capabilities that improve business outcomes and operational effectiveness.
