About the Job

The Manager, Global Law Firm Engagement will be responsible for ensuring optimal law firm engagement for the GLCR department, across all AIG regions, including the US, Canada, UK, EMEA, APAC, LAC and Japan. This newly created global role will be a critical component of our law firm management and financial monitoring team and will play a pivotal role in establishing financial and law firm performance key performance indicators.  The ideal candidate should be a process driven, strategic thinker who has experience in a law firm or insurance company environment with knowledge of legal procedures, engagement contracts, and law firm fee negotiations and billing and budgeting practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on law firm engagement and onboarding for GLCR-managed matters, ensuring that AIG has the appropriate roster of global law firms.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and communication with law firms throughout the lifecycle of legal matters.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve law firm performance and value.
  • Maintains detailed records of law firm engagements and performance, providing reports and analysis to department leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with leadership to manage the financial affairs of GLCR, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, allocations, and accruals.
  • Communicate with law firms on expense/invoice submission.
  • Participate in financial analysis and forecasting activities to support strategic planning and decision-making and assist in law firm management.
  • Contribute to compliance with financial and law firm management policies and regulations
  • Execute law firm engagements, security and control assessments, and other law firm administration-related deliverables; manages law firm contacts, such as billing and relationship partner communications.
  • Manage conflicts and waivers for all GLCR law firms, working closely with legal teams to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure accurate data in connection with firm eBilling and matter management records in outside counsel management system.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with law firm management including law firm rate/fee negotiations, and alternative fee arrangements that drive competitive pricing and cost efficiency within the insurance industry or law firm preferred.
  • BA degree.
  • Managing outside counsel relationships to ensure quality and efficiency.  Manage all aspects of the law firm contract lifecycle workflow.
  • Strong relationship building skills; experience working with attorneys and other business executives is a plus.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond quickly to stakeholder needs while strengthening processes and systems that support legal and operational excellence.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to partner with key stakeholders, including corporate leadership and law firm management.
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with Ebilling platforms, law firm billing practices and matter management guidelines and best practices.
  •  Flexibility and comfort in evaluating new tools in the every changing and dynamic landscape of global law firm and financial management.
  • Strong attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy and on-time delivery.

 

The base salary range for this position is $94,000-$117,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
