Summary

Avery Dennison’s Global Communications team is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Global Communications to lead internal communications for key projects across our corporate functions and employee engagement initiatives. This role requires a mature understanding of employee and stakeholder audiences, strong communication campaign development skills, and the ability to influence and manage complex, global communications programs. This role is an individual contributor role with enterprise-wide scope and high stakeholder visibility.

Key Responsibilities

As Manager, Global Communications, you will:

  • Support Functional Communications & Change Communications: This role will independently own projects and workstreams, under the direction of the Global Communications Senior Manager/Directors supporting internal corporate functions. This includes working directly with stakeholders to assess communications needs, provide expert communications recommendations, and execute communications planning and deliverables for internal initiatives, and support significant change  communications for internal systems and digital transformation.

  • Activate Content Planning & Delivery: Lead the content planning and editorial calendar for key company-wide communications (e.g., global company newsletter, values and ethics program, engagement activities). Oversee content creation and delivery by writing, editing, and directing creative/design to ensure high-quality, compelling communications materials (e.g., emails, intranet, FAQs, video scripts, presentations).

  • Manage Digital Workplace & Technology Communications: Develop and execute communication strategies to increase awareness and adoption of digital workplace tools and emerging technologies, such as Generative AI (GenAI), to boost global productivity. Manage the IT Communications workstream for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to ensure seamless technology system transitions.

  • Oversee Intranet Presence & Migration: Drive the enhancement of the intranet presence by creating and overseeing compelling content focused on digital tools and functional initiatives. Play a key role in the intranet migration project, partnering with global teams to audit and migrate content, and serving as the content owner for all enterprise and corporate communications content.

Reporting Structure and Location

  • Reporting: Reports to the Senior Manager, Global Communications.

  • Dotted Line Reporting: Dotted line reporting relationship to the Director, Global Technology and Change Communications.

  • Work Location: Hybrid (in office 2-3 days per week): Mentor, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; or New York City

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or equivalent is preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of progressive, relevant experience in corporate communications and/or public relations, journalism or change management, with a track record of leading complex communications programs.

    • 3+ years of direct experience working with IT and/or functional internal communications is highly preferred.

    • Strong understanding and experience managing communications for digital workspace collaboration systems, such as Google Apps and digital tools.

  • Stakeholder Partnership & Management: Proven experience working with a variety of stakeholders across global functional areas, providing strategic guidance and recommendations for projects as well as communications support. 

  • Executive Communication Skills: Exceptional written and oral communication, including the ability to translate complex or technical subjects into user-friendly topics.

  • Change Communications: Experienced in consulting on change communications to drive employee behavior change and adoption of new processes and technologies across the enterprise.

  • Agility & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and quickly change direction, working independently using a problem-solving and solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Curiosity and Continuous Improvement Mindset: Proactive desire to dig deeper with stakeholders and explore new communication channels, measure effectiveness, and implement best practices to continuously enhance the employee experience.

  • Digital Passion: A passion for how digital technologies and AI tools can enhance the employee experience.

  • Visual Storytelling: Strong preference for candidates experienced in creative, visual storytelling and possessing basic to intermediate video editing skills.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $100,200–$133,600/year.

The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
