Job Description
CrossBoundary Group is recruiting a full-time Manager (Financial Modelling) to support CrossBoundary’s investment platforms, which include CrossBoundary Energy, CrossBoundary Energy Access and CrossBoundary Educational Infrastructure. You will be responsible for the platforms’ financial modelling requirements in the context of ongoing fundraising, project development and structuring, portfolio management and risk mitigation workstreams. You may also (depending on bandwidth) be seconded to CrossBoundary Advisory teams to support on ongoing advisory mandates for external clients including investors, lenders, or businesses.

Who You Are
- You are a self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change within the infrastructure sector in emerging markets
- Background and interest in infrastructure and / or investment in emerging markets
- You possess excellent attention to detail, but are solution-oriented and able to operate in situations where information is scarce, and the environment is constantly changing
- You are comfortable managing multiple work streams simultaneously, and can prioritise and effectively deliver on tasks
Primary Responsibilities
- Model design and development:
- Analyse and interpret modelling requirements within the CB investment platforms
- Plan, design and develop financial models from scratch to agreed model specifications using Microsoft Excel and its VBA environment (to the extent necessary), and maintain financial models in accordance with the requirements
- Develop and maintain dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, integrating data from financial models
- Model audit and review:
- Undertake model review work (both technical and commercial)
- Providing financial modelling support to other team members internally, including supporting on project pricing, fundraising analysis and strategy, and bid optimization
- Undertake quality control on other team member models
- Model training:
- Provide internal support on and assist with delivering team trainings
- Train and mentor junior staff and contribute to the overall skills enhancement and experience of the team
- Model evolution and improvement:
- Participate proactively in organizational evolution of financial modelling approaches, including potential “Centre of Excellence” initiatives and consideration of new tools approaches (e.g. software, code-based modelling)
- Proactively enhance models with new data and capabilities to improve the performance of and insights gained from models used by the CB investment platforms
- Advisory services:
- Support with the preparation and development of related financial and analytical materials (including in PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI)
- Support (in conjunction with other team members) with the development and improvement of related analytical workstreams, including data analysis and credit scoring
Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Professional exposure to, training in, or academic knowledge of:
- Fundraising
- Accounting
- Tax, legal and corporate structuring
- Experience in or understanding of the development and financing of infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector
- A critical thinker who is intellectually stimulated to work at the confluence of energy and power, geopolitics, economics and the environment
A successful candidate will require, at minimum, the following skills and qualifications:
- Professional English fluency
- 5-7 years of experience at one or more of the following:
- an energy, infrastructure or project finance team of a top-tier investment or commercial bank or Big 4 professional services firm;
- a specialist project finance advisory or financial modelling firm;
- an energy or infrastructure focused investor; or
- the commercial or project finance team at a successful energy developer
- Demonstrated professional experience in
- Corporate and / or project finance
- Advanced financial modelling, ideally in the FAST modelling standard
- Have prepared financial models from scratch and have significant experience into model audits/reviews
- Have knowledge of financing structures, particularly debt and equity finance and other types of project-based financing
- Have good working knowledge of accounting and financial statements
- Financial analysis and interpretation, in particular DCF methods (NPV and IRR)
- Excellent analytical capabilities and demonstrated attention to detail, whilst still being able to maintain line of sight on a holistic outcome / objective
- Ability to think clearly, communicate effectively, and solve problems, and a ready desire to learn and grow in new and complex situations
- Demonstrated ability to project manage multiple, complex workstreams and interact with broad stakeholder groups
- Strong presentation skills
