The Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM) at High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Manager of Experiential Education. This is a full-time staff position at the High Point University Workman School of Dental (WSDM). This person will assist in developing and maintaining relationships with experiential locations, preceptors, and their teams to support learner scheduling and experiences in these environments. This role assists with addressing accreditation requirements as it relates to experiential education, monitoring learner progression in these areas, and supporting learner needs during experiential learning.

Candidates must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University. This person will report to the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

It is strongly preferred that the candidate have relevant education management experience (i.e., experiential education, learner management/support, scheduling, accreditation, etc.) in higher education and/or health professions education. Strong preference will be given to candidates with dental practice experience. Candidates are encouraged to have experience supporting experiential education in health professions settings, but it is not required.

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred for this role include:

  • Broad knowledge of experiential education design, assessment practices, data collection & analysis, and program evaluation; application in a health professions setting is preferred

  • Training and experience working with learners and educators (small group facilitation, instructional development, one-on-one mentoring, etc.)

  • Collaboration with team members to develop experiential content, assessments, and resources

  • Use of active learning and assessment strategies to enhance engagement and knowledge retention

  • Proficiency with word processing, presentation, data analysis, and data visualization software

  • Awareness of individual and team needs to thrive in a start-up education model

  • Evidence of motivation, approachability, coachability, & continuous development

  • Commit to and embody HPU WSDM core values of innovation/creativity, integrity/trust, leadership/learning, and teamwork/collaboration

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs and WSDM ELT (Executive Leadership Team). The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

Learner Scheduling, Monitoring, and Evaluation Support

  • Create and modify learner rotation schedules to maximize their desired outcomes and fulfill accreditation and graduation requirements

  • Triage learner needs during experiential education experiences and direct them to the appropriate personnel to resolve challenges, if appropriate

  • Monitor learner compliance with policies and procedures specific to experiential environments

  • Aggregate data for learner performance across experiential environments to support decisions around progression, graduation, and modifications to schedules, as needed

Experiential Education Site Communication & Development

  • Coordinate and communicate with experiential sites, preceptors, and team members

  • Collaborate with team members to design effective experiential learning environments that effectively motivate learning, engage participants, and facilitate knowledge retention

  • Collect and provide feedback to experiential education sites and support their needs to optimize learning for all learners

Accreditation Support

  • Assist with accreditation reporting requirements for experiential education settings

  • Support the curriculum management teams to accomplish their goals

  • Serve as an elected or appointed representative on HPU and/or WSDM committees

ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • This position will report to the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs with input from Executive Leadership Team members

  • Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews are conducted along with an annual assessment by the Dean for Education, which includes input from the faculty, personnel, and learners.
