The Mgr, Engagement (ME) is responsible for providing leadership and strategy that drives business growth and community impact with and through Advisors within the geographic area and/or distribution channel they are aligned to. Their business strategy and goals are developed in alignment with the National Engagement Team’s strategies and outcomes while assuring strong strategic alignment and partnership with the Sales and Distribution leaders they partner with at a geographic or channel level.
The ME develops and leads a team of engagement professionals within their channel or geography who provide local leadership, planning and execution of community and business development through:   
- Financial Advisor coaching, consultation and community and relationship development support
- Community engagement and activation activities in partnership with Thrivent Financial Advisors and Thrivent Member Networks 
- Strategic relationship development with local organizations  
- Coordinated community growth and development efforts with field leaders
The ME is a key member of a regional sales area or distribution channel leadership team and reports to a Leader of Group Engagement or the National Director of Engagement. 

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • The Manager, Engagement role is dedicated to supporting Thrivent's Michigan market. The successful candidate must reside within Michigan or relocate to Michigan, as regular in-person engagement with team members, field leadership, advisors, and community stakeholders is an important component of the role. Relocation assistance is available.
  • Provides leadership to and aligns their team to deliver on three primary outcomes critical to Thrivent’s business model: Community and Societal Impact, Value to Clients and Thrivent, and Growth in Sales for Financial Advisors and the enterprise.

  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization. This includes working closely with the Engagement Center of Excellence to develop critical talent and skills of Engagement Leaders and Engagement Specialists, holding them accountable for execution by following nationally set standards and practices for their roles, while managing performance on annual goals and within Thrivent’s leadership competencies and values.  

  • Works closely with Distribution and Sales leadership roles within the geography and channels they are assigned ensuring alignment of teams and strategies to drive mutually beneficial outcomes that advance the goals of each team. For example, models the expectation of warm-sourced advisor leads and advisor appointments as outcomes of engagement activities, community partnerships, and business development opportunities with their team. 

  • Brings consistency to multiple engagement strategies and support models within the geography or channel they lead and for the roles that they lead. These include: following the consistent support model for new and experienced advisor coaching, growth and support; following consistent processes for event development, communication and follow-up, and more.  

  • Identifies, develops and oversees strategic partnerships and relationships with external organizations and community leaders within their assigned markets and teams using Thrivent’s Partnership strategy and tools to manage relationships, activations and results driving meaningful outcomes to advance market/channel goals, Thrivent goals and partner goals.  

  • Brings thought leadership and expertise of the engagement team and engagement support model to internal Thrivent partners enabling Thrivent’s brand and offerings to come to life in local markets for clients, advisors and external organizations effectively. Examples of critical internal partners include new advisor training, recruiting and selection, experienced advisor retention and growth, marketing and brand, Church Finance, Thrivent’s enterprise and regional governance, etc.  

  • Champions change efforts with their team by bringing clarity, building new skills, reinforcing new and evolving programs and processes, and holding team members accountable. Examples include adoption of Salesforce B2E with advisor documentation, using a new strategic partnership evaluation process, consistent consultation process and meeting agendas with advisors, and more. Ensuring that their team, together with others around the country, are building consistent and reliable partnerships, effective advisor support, and strong community engagement for engagement work.  

  • Serves as an officer of the Thrivent Member Network (TMN) in the market areas they serve and provides staff leadership to the TMN Board of Directors of that network. Provides strategic leadership to the engagement plan in their network to deliver outcomes of community impact, client engagement and sales growth through the engagement activities of their team. Develops a strategic plan to deliver on the Membership outcomes of the market areas they serve. These strategic priorities include: 

  • Community impact through Thrivent’s financial wellness and community impact programs,  

  • Delivering value to clients by helping advisors leverage Membership programs and activities to build a purpose driven business, and  

  • Growing sales by supporting leads to the financial advisor career and creating opportunities for financial advisors to deepen client relationships, build connections with prospective clients and reach new audiences through community partners. 

  • Responsible for oversight of an operating budget in range of $500,000 - $1,500,000, and for investment of Thrivent Member Network budget ranging from $500,000 - $1,500,000 to achieve outcomes of the Area and Thrivent Member Network(s) they serve.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:   

 Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience 

  • Experienced people leader and success coaching and developing people 

  • Experience leading remote teams effectively 

  • Demonstrated ability to build, activate, and leverage networks 

  • Ability to travel up to 50% and ability to flex schedule to work evenings/weekends occasionally 

 

Preferred:   

  • 10 + years of work experience in business administration, community engagement, non-profit or volunteer management, or marketing. 

  • Volunteer or community development experience 

  • Experience with and understanding of Christian communities 

  • Masters or advanced degrees or certifications demonstrating ongoing investments in development and leadership growth

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $109,268.00 - $147,832.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
