Position Summary

Auris Payroll is seeking a driven and strategically minded Manager of CPAA to play a central role in growing our CPA book-of-business acquisition program. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for identifying, engaging, and closing agreements with CPAs, bookkeepers, accountants, and other accounting professionals who are ready to sell their payroll processing book of business to Auris. Working in close partnership with the Director of CPAA, the Manager will also partner with inside sales, outside sales, and SDR teams to ensure a steady pipeline of high-quality acquisition leads — and will shepherd each opportunity from initial contact through signed agreement, seamless portfolio transition, and long-term partnership integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect Accounting Professionals for Book-of-Business Acquisitions. Proactively identify and engage CPAs, bookkeepers, accountants, and accounting firms that may be candidates to sell their payroll processing book of business to Auris. Conduct territory research, build targeted lists, and initiate outreach across multiple channels to surface acquisition opportunities.
  • Work and Convert Acquisition Leads. Manage all inbound and outbound leads provided by outside sales, inside sales, SDR teams, and any other source. Execute structured discovery conversations, apply proven talk tracks, and advance qualified opportunities through the acquisition pipeline to a signed agreement. Ensure every lead is logged, followed up on, and progressed in Atlas with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Support Portfolio Acquisition, Transfer, and Implementation. Partner with the sales and operations teams to manage the end-to-end process of acquiring a payroll book of business — from initial agreement through client transfer, onboarding, platform integration, and go-live. Act as a liaison to ensure clients transition smoothly to Auris Payroll while preserving the goodwill and trust the selling firm built with them.
  • Assist Legal in Contract Development and Negotiations. Work alongside the Auris legal team in the development, review, and negotiation of acquisition agreements. Support efforts to ensure all contracts are complete, binding, and accurately reflect agreed terms. Coordinate follow-through on post-signing obligations including long-term partnership agreements tied to each acquisition.
  • Drive Sales Team Education, Training, and Lead Generation. Collaborate with inside and outside Sales Leaders — including the SVP of Sales, VPs of Sales, and Division Managers — to ensure all sales team members are educated, trained, and motivated to identify and surface acquisition leads. Conduct training sessions, deliver talk-track coaching, and participate in regional sales meetings to maximize the volume and quality of leads flowing to the CPAA team.
  • Manage the Acquisition Pipeline and Reporting. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date pipeline of all active acquisition opportunities in SalesForce. Provide regular status reporting to the Director of CPAA, including lead counts, conversion rates, deals in progress, and closed acquisitions. Flag bottlenecks and escalate as needed to keep deals moving forward.
  • Conduct Acquisition Discovery and Warm Handoffs. Receive and act on warm handoffs from outside sales representatives who have identified sell signals in the field. Conduct structured discovery conversations using established Auris protocols. Lead valuation discussions in coordination with the Director of CPAA and the M&A team, ensuring pricing and deal structure conversations are handled at the appropriate level.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships with Accounting Professionals. Develop and sustain long-term professional relationships with accounting firms — both prospects and post-acquisition partners. Ensure every seller experience reinforces confidence in Auris as a professional, trustworthy acquirer and long-term payroll partner. Follow the ongoing partner cadence to keep closed partners engaged as active referral sources after acquisition.
  • Observe Tax Season Protocols. Adhere to the company's tax season rule (February 1 through April 15): no acquisition asks during this window. Deliver value touches, client status updates, and relationship support during busy season. Leverage the prime post-tax-season window (late April through June) to accelerate acquisition conversations with firms that experienced heightened payroll-processing stress during the season.
  • Attend Regional Sales Meetings. Participate in all Auris outside sales regional meetings as required — at minimum twice per calendar year in person — to deliver CPAA program updates, coach sales teams on acquisition talk tracks, inspect pipeline activity, and reinforce lead-generation standards across all divisions.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, M&A, sales, or account management; experience in payroll, HR technology, financial services, or accounting strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success prospecting and closing deals with small-to-mid-size professional services firms, including CPAs, bookkeepers, or other accounting professionals.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to conduct discovery conversations, identify motivations, and guide prospects through a structured decision process.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, Xero, or similar) is a meaningful plus.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating contract negotiations and legal processes in a professional services or M&A context.
  • Exceptional pipeline management discipline; proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce/Atlas or equivalent) and a strong habit of same-day documentation.
  • Ability to communicate and influence credibly at all levels — from a sole-proprietor CPA to a VP of Sales.
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneously without sacrificing follow-through quality.
  • Willingness to travel within territory for in-person meetings, field days, and regional sales events.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentive compensation tied to acquisition volume and quality.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement plan.
  • A high-visibility role with direct partnership exposure to senior sales leadership, the Director of CPAA, and the M&A team.
  • Ongoing professional development, talk-track coaching, and a defined career path within the CPAA organization.
  • A collaborative team environment with a market-leading product and a genuine competitive advantage in the accountant channel.
