What We're Looking For:
Lead and manage a high-performing engineering team focused on architecting, optimizing, and deploying computer vision (CV) and edge AI algorithms for Zebra’s AI offerings and AI Data Capture ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge cutting-edge deep learning research with robust embedded/edge software engineering, delivering production-grade AI capabilities directly onto frontline enterprise hardware and edge platforms. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Core Platform Engineering, Research teams and Solution Architects to drive technical roadmaps, benchmark on-device model efficiency, and empower frontline workers with intelligent automation. You shall also be responsible for mentoring the team for their growth and development.Drive Vision & AI Architecture: Lead the technical direction for state-of-the-art computer vision and deep learning models targeting edge inference on frontline mobile computers, wearable scanners, and edge compute boxes.
Algorithm & Pipeline Optimization: Oversee the end-to-end model pipeline—from data curation and synthetic data generation to training, pruning, quantization (INT8/FP16), and deployment using runtimes such as ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, and vendor-specific NPUs/DSPs.
Establish rigorous performance benchmarking standards (latency, memory footprint, thermal impact, and accuracy metrics) across diverse device form factors.
Manage a multidisciplinary team of CV algorithm researchers, AI/ML engineers, and edge software developers across full-time and contractor positions.
Promote best practices in modern C++, Python, ML lifecycle (MLOps), CI/CD test automation, and reproducible research.
Proven ability to manage multi-site, globally distributed engineering teams and external vendor/contractor resources.
Strong executive communication skills—capable of translating complex AI/CV concepts to business stakeholders and executive leadership.
High bias for action and problem-solving mindset in fast-paced product delivery environments.
Partner with Product Managers, Technical Leads, and System Architects to translate market requirements into actionable technical backlogs and delivery milestones.
