About the role.
As Cold Store Manager, you will lead the safe and efficient operation of our Timaru Cold Store onsite while working closely with the ANZ Supply Chain team and manufacturing partners. You'll manage the deployment of McCain products across the ANZ network, lead and coach a team of 26 staff and supervisors, and act as a crucial link between cold stores, production, and contracted logistics providers. While prior cold store/supply chain management experience is essential, food manufacturing background is not. What really matters to us is your ability to prioritise workloads, build relationships, and manage people will set you up for success. The role requires onsite presence, with flexibility available to suit your needs.
What you'll be doing.
  • Provide hands-on operational and people leadership for Timaru Cold Store, ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.
  • Work closely with the ANZ Supply Chain team and manufacturing partners to deliver excellence.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 26 staff, promoting a culture of engagement, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee supplier relationships, contract compliance, and effective inventory management.
  • Collaborate across teams for accurate stock control and reporting.
  • Manage cold store budgets, participate in strategic improvement projects.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and workforce training.
  • Ensure regulatory and policy alignment across operations.

What you'll need to be successful.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a cold store management or supply chain management role.
  • Prior industry background preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, HACCP, Food Safety, GMP and Quality Standards.
  • Skilled in building effecting relationships, particularly with manufacturing partners.
  • Significant people leadership experience, ideally in an EBA environment.
  • Excellent planning, time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI, Excel, and Direct Planning (DRP) preferred, but not essential.
  • Valid driver's license required.
