Mechanical Apprentice
About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Apprentice to join our team in Timaru. This full-time, entry-level role will support safe operations across our plant and offer an outstanding pathway for developing trade skills within a global food business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Engage fully in McCain's comprehensive apprentice program, including off-site scholastic training as required.
- Work closely with maintenance and production personnel to deliver positive outcomes and enhance mechanical skills.
- Progress toward meeting all competency requirements for a qualified mechanical tradesperson.
- Participate actively in all required training and development activities to support ongoing professional growth.
- Demonstrate increasing confidence and trust-building to support your evolving responsibilities.
- Follow all company policies, such as hygiene, occupational health & safety (including safe lifting), timekeeping, and McCain's Code of Conduct.
- Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety for yourself and others.
- Carry out additional duties as directed, within your training and capabilities.
- Report directly to the Mechanical Supervisor and liaise with internal stakeholders across maintenance, production, and shift management teams.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
- Completion of Year 10 with passes in Mathematics, Science, and English.
- A strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Developed communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Driver's licence (desirable).
