To support the Director in delivering strong corporate governance, high impact strategic engagements and events, and business initiatives between our life JV in China and its asset management arm, Prudential Group and other key stakeholders, with a strong focus on board effectiveness, stakeholder management, and cross border execution in a complex JV environment.Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Governance & Board Effectiveness (life JV and its asset management arm)
- Support end‑to‑end Board and committee governance, including the BoD and BoD sub‑committees.
- Assist with director onboarding and offboarding, including preparation of orientation materials, regulatory filings, governance documentation, and ongoing director support.
- Review, coordinate and track Board papers, resolutions, minutes and written approvals, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with JV and Prudential Group governance standards.
- Support updates to Articles of Association (AoA) and related governance frameworks in response to regulatory changes, while safeguarding Prudential’s rights and interests
- Assist in the ongoing enhancement of performance management, Risk and investment governance, compliance and audit issues remediation, AIB framework etc.
- Liaise closely with life JV in China, Group functions (Legal, Risk, Compliance, Audit, HR, etc.) and external advisors to ensure effective governance outcomes.
2. Strategic Engagements, Events & Senior Visits
- Support the planning and execution of high‑profile strategic engagement events, including:
- JV Board meetings
- Senior leadership and Group Executive Committee (GEC) visits
- Bilateral engagement with local shareholder
- Key anniversaries and milestone events
- Manage end‑to‑end logistics and coordination, covering venues, agendas, meeting materials, speakers, interpreters, protocol arrangements and post‑event follow‑ups
- Contribute to the preparation of scripts, briefing notes and talking points for senior Prudential leaders.
- Maintain engagement trackers and support forward‑looking strategic engagement roadmaps.
3. Business Initiatives & Cross‑Border Collaboration
- Support business and strategic initiatives between life JV and Prudential, including:
- Talent exchange programmes
- Cross‑postings and secondments
- Other agreed bilateral or strategic initiatives
- Provide coordination and execution support across Group HR, PD, Agency, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Legal, Finance and WFOE governance.
- Assist with preparation of MoUs, service agreements, and tracking of implementation for bilateral initiatives.
- Contribute to smooth day‑to‑day operations through strong coordination, follow‑up and problem‑solving.
Requirements & Experience
- Proven ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, including Board directors and senior management, demonstrating strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills in a high‑level, fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to understand and navigate diverse needs across JVs, Group functions and external partners, with strong problem-solving, coordination, and follow-through capabilities.
- 3-7+ years’ experience (depending on level) in corporate governance, audit, risk management, compliance, company secretarial or related functions.
- Solid experience in Mainland China life insurance companies; experience in life insurance JVs is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of board governance and regulatory environments in China, with familiarity in regulatory and multi‑stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor’s degree or above; legal, finance, accounting, risk management or related background preferred.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English, both spoken and written. Proven ability to draft high‑quality bilingual materials.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high‑quality, fit‑for‑purpose outputs under time pressure.
- Willingness to travel to mainland China from time to time to support business activities and stakeholder engagement, as needed.
