- Manages team for consistency of claims handling in compliance with the policy terms and applicable laws.
- Monitors claims workload and pending for purposes of equitable distribution of work between all representatives within their unit.
- Promotes our company customer service philosophy to our representatives and monitors for delivery.
- Monitors daily reserves on all claims within his/her unit.
- Provides expense information to the General Manager of Claims for adequate company budgeting.
- Evaluates exposure and grants settlement authority within the manager’s authority level on claims over the representative’s authority.
- Reports regularly to the General Manager of Claims on staff files and litigation files recommending reserve, settlement range and requesting authority in excess of his/her authority.
- Communicates company policy, procedures, questions of coverage, evaluation of liability, exposure and application of law by meeting regularly with representatives and providing feedback.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations and salary reviews.
- Reviews Insurance Department complaints to ensure company policy & applicable laws have been followed.
- Completes monthly report to General Manager of Claims outlining volume, pendings, productivity, seminars/training, personnel issues and miscellaneous items affecting the unit.
- Ensures completion of audit functions as outlined by the General Manager and VP of Claims.
- Recommend staffing levels to adequately handle assigned claims and provide excellent customer service to our insureds claimants and agents.
- Conduct interviews for Claim Representative openings.
- Coordinate and assist in the training of new Claim Representatives to ensure consistency of training topics.
- Provide ongoing training and seminars for the representatives applicable to the related states and topics of insurance within their unit.
- Promotes morale, team atmosphere and company pride within their unit.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
College Degree and/or equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Thorough knowledge of property and casualty insurance.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledgeable in all matters relating to property and casualty claims practices, policies and procedures.
