About the Role:
The Ceded Reinsurance Accounting team of Everest Insurance, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd., is looking for a Manager of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting to join our team.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Manage a team of professionals to facilitate execution that supports business strategy, team priorities, and department key initiatives.

Provide change management leadership across the ceded reinsurance accounting team, facilitating the adoption of processes and system improvements, and driving optimal utilization of such methods and tools

Effectively work in collaboration with multiple functional areas, including Ceded Re U/W, Direct U/W, Insurance Accounting and Finance, actuarial, and claims.

Timely preparation of ceded accounts, bordereau production, and recording of ceded payable and recoverable amounts for domestic and foreign operations

Liaise closely with the underwriting, claims, and actuarial departments to ensure the proper interpretation and recognition of complex reinsurance agreements.

Responsible for setting up treaties (Quota Share, Excess of Loss, Automatic Facultative, aggregates, retentions, inuring coverages, exclusions, adjustable features, etc.) and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system

Responsible for assisting with the quarterly financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliation of ceded reinsurance-related accounts in support of GAAP financial statement preparation.

Drive improvements to Ceded Reinsurance accounting system and processes.

Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley internal control documentation

Coordination with outside departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Maintain positive relationships with and appropriately represent the Company to all reinsurance partners.

Assist in additional projects as assigned
Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have a BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or business.

A master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred but not required.

Ten (10) or more years of insurance finance/accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
-
Relevant experience in the Accounting Department of a property and casualty insurance or reinsurance company is strongly preferred.

Prior management experience is preferred but not required.

Skilful interpersonal and collaboration abilities required to achieve results within and across diverse organizational units and disciplines.

Strong Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Understanding of functions pertaining to ceded reinsurance accounting is required.
-
Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and be able to multitask in an ever-changing environment.

Excellent PC skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUPS).

Knowledge/experience with Global XL Pro system is highly desirable

Knowledge of SQL is preferred.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.

Self-starter; capable of working both independently and within a team environment.

Strong Interpersonal skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
