POSITION SUMMARY

HASI is seeking a Manager, Capital Markets to join our Finance team in Annapolis, MD, supporting our Corporate capital-raising activities.

The Manager will contribute to the execution of debt and equity financing transactions, including transaction structuring, documentation review, due diligence, and preparation of marketing materials, while also supporting capital planning, financial analysis, and the management of rating agency and corporate banking relationships. This role will report to the Vice President, Head of Capital Markets.


RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Manage and mentor junior team members, providing guidance on capital markets analysis, transaction execution, and professional development
  • Manage key workstreams for debt and equity capital transactions, including financial analysis, transaction structuring, negotiation of commercial terms, due diligence, marketing materials, documentation review, and execution coordination
  • Coordinate workflows associated with maintaining our corporate rating including working with internal parties to co-ordinate annual reviews and other meetings requested by the rating agencies, preparation of materials for meetings, and reviewing reports issued by agencies prior to publication
  • Coordinate and participate in conversations with corporate banking partners and manage information regarding their contacts, transaction activity, and economics.
  • Collaborate with members of the finance team to analyze financing alternatives and recommend transaction structures that support HASI's financing strategy and capital plan
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance a weekly capital markets dashboard summarizing market developments and key metrics relevant to HASI's capital plan
  • Lead debt compliance monitoring, including review of compliance certificates, financial covenant calculations, events-of-default checklists, and conversion-ratio adjustment reporting
  • Perform stress testing of financial covenants and key rating metrics and contribute capital markets perspectives to enterprise risk management processes
  • Partner with Investor Relations to maintain fixed-income investor materials and support applicable Sustainability and Impact-related reporting
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and cross-functional support

  

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • At least five years of relevant experience in corporate banking, investment banking, capital markets, treasury, or corporate finance
  • Experience supporting or executing debt or equity financing transactions, including transaction analysis, due diligence, financing documentation, investor or lender materials, and financial modeling
  • Experience engaging with external counterparties such as rating agencies, external counsel, investors, lenders, or banking partners
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external counterparties in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated accountability and ability to independently advance work while collaborating effectively as part of a team
  • Experience managing, coaching, or mentoring junior staff, with the ability to delegate effectively and support their growthDemonstrated attention to detail, initiative, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

SPECIFIC RECOMMENDED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • CFA designation or progress toward the designation
  • Experience in financial services, sustainable infrastructure, energy transition, or a related sector
  • Familiarity with rating agency methodologies, credit metrics, and review processes.
  • Familiarity with interest-rate derivatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with complex financial models
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg
