Role Summary

Wealth Management Middle Office is hiring a senior manager to lead the National Client Support Services operations team based in the US.   This role provides critical daily support across Private Wealth Management services.  The team supports WM Banking, Trust and Investment partners helping expedite WM client requests and support client servicing work.  Functional areas include Money Movement, Investment Support, Onboarding / Maintenance / Outbound Transitions, Client Review Form and Account Review Execution and Passport Enrollment.    WM Middle Office Operations will be experiencing ongoing change in the coming years as a result of process automation, operational process reengineering and growing needs to support additional operational tasks currently within the Front Office.  Seeking a change agent and strong operational manager to lead the team through these efforts.

Job Description

Responsible for managing multiple functions, providing leadership and guidance to subordinate managers. Overall accountability for the performance management and career development programs for the Operations function. The manager  is responsible for an end-to-end process analysis and design with an understanding of technical and operating challenges and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.    Role creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes. Subject matter expertise is beneficial. Conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise

  • Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities

  • Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues

  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity

  • Seasoned leader with extensive business experience, and broad functional expertise, with focus on proactive strategic leadership

  • Responsible for managing multiple units or functions through the direct management of a group of managers

Necessary Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

  • In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required

  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change

  • Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. PeopleSoft) is required

  • Knowledge of business strategy development is necessary to provide long term planning and to manage the profitability/performance of a major business segment. Leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for the multiple units.

Necessary Experience and Education

  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience.

Salary Range:

$171,700 - 300,500 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
