General Counsel Technology
FIL General Counsel Technology is responsible for providing IT solutions to the Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, Tax and Shareholder Service functions. These are global functions comprised of approximately 400 employees based in 26 countries. General Counsel Technology partners with its business stakeholders to identify their requirements and develop/implement technology solutions. This includes on-premise, SaaS and AWS solutions, both in-house built and vendor provided. There is a strong focus on data analytics, workflow and automation tools and emerging technologies including AI and NLP to improve regulatory outcomes and operational efficiency to bring greater efficiencies to these functions. Together with this there is continued movement towards greater use of Agile and DevOps practices. The GC Technology team itself consists of approximately 25 people based in both the UK and India.
Role
The Manager - Business Analyst (Data and AI) will play a critical role as the product Owner for the various AI Solutions within GC, supporting the selection, design, and delivery of a data- and AI-driven regulatory change management capability.
The role focuses on improving relevance, reducing regulatory noise, and ensuring auditable, end-to-end traceability of regulatory change across jurisdictions and regulatory domains, leveraging Data Science, NLP, and Agentic AI techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Technology stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into scalable AI-enabled solutions, user journeys, and target operating models.
- Rethink and redesign existing processes, workflows, and solutions through an Agentic AI lens, identifying where autonomous, semi-autonomous, and human-in-the-loop capabilities can improve efficiency, decision-making, control, and user experience.
- Act as the Product Owner for AI solutions within the General Counsel function, helping define product vision, roadmap, priorities, and business outcomes aligned to legal, risk, and compliance needs.
- Define business, data, and integration requirements across multiple systems, documents, and platforms, ensuring appropriate focus on data quality, traceability, governance, auditability, and process transparency.
- Work closely with AI, data science, and engineering teams to shape solution design, including AI/NLP use cases, agent workflows, orchestration logic, evaluation criteria, and risk-aware controls.
- Support end-to-end delivery through prioritisation, acceptance criteria, testing, UAT, stakeholder engagement, adoption planning, and performance tracking to ensure solutions deliver measurable business value.
Experience and Qualifications
Technical -
- B.E./B.Tech/MBA/M.C.A/Any other Bachelor’s Degree.
- 10+ years as a BA in financial services (Compliance/ Risk/ RegTech /Banking preferred) with Data Science and AI experience
- Strong capability in data analysis and understanding of data structures, including schemas, mappings, metadata, and data quality checks.
- Good understanding of AI / NLP concepts, with preference for experience in Agentic AI and human-in-the-loop review models.
- Ability to define structured requirements for AI products, including control, governance, and evaluation needs.
- Experience working with multiple data ingestion methods such as APIs, structured files, unstructured documents, and web-based sources.
- Understanding of workflow, case management, and reporting solutions in a compliance or legal context is advantageous.
- Good understanding of financial services and financial instruments.
- Strong team player
- Self-motivation is essential, should demonstrate commitment to high quality design and development.
- Willingness to work in different time-zones if required.
- Initiative in keeping abreast of changing industry practices, analysis and design methods, tools and techniques and emerging technologies.
- Ability to develop & maintain working relationships with several stakeholders and testing professionals.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech/MBA/M.C.A or equivalent)
